How long from approval letter to receipt of card?

The card production delays seem to be random and seem to be just those of us approved In April who found out we were approved by mail. I'm not sure if they had computer problems in April, but those of us stuck waiting for our cards have had no online updates and our cases still say "initial review" online. I've noticed people approved in the last week or two have had their card approval e-mails right away - so like anything with immigration, luck has a lot to do with it.

Fingers crossed since you're traveling soon that you're in the lucky group who aren't stuck waiting and you get your card before your trip. We're moving next month 59 days after my approval date so hoping the card production hurries up...

I also suspect that it's for those of us who got the approval letter from CA, not from the local office or Nebraska. Just my thoughts.

It looks like they approved us and threw our cases back in the pile. At least we don't have to be afraid of RFE or interviews anymore, you know

Marie, are you going to start calling after crossing the 6 months line?

I have finals this week for grad school and a busy work schedule, so don't plan on calling yet. I saw someone who got their card production about a week ago after a 5 and a half week wait from approval date, (I have another week to go till i'm at 5 and a half weeks) so i'm trying to be patient a little longer. Maybe after I hit the 6 week mark a week on Tuesday if there's still no news, maybe i'll call then. Would like to avoid calling if I can since I know its hard to get someone on the line that can actually help, rather than frustrate the situation.

Hopefully card production will get moving this week for all of us...

It appears once they've ordered card production in theory your online status should change and if you've signed up for e-mails/text messages you will get a couple of alerts saying its ordered and mailed.

I'm paranoid too, but not about them changing their minds, more that the case is sat somewhere with card production forgotten about...

Ugh come on card production! :help:

I got an approval letter from them (decision date 25th of April), but on-line status never changed, no emails or messages. Looks like they are really slammed there or understaffed big time...

Same here, my approval letter came in the mail approval date April 10, online status still initial review. I always though card production was handled by a separate company... But everything to do with USCIS seems slow of late. :( Vermont seems faster at card production but then I guess they should be after how long approval is taking there. :bonk:

I also was approved 4/10/12 and nothing since then, no online updates. It's nice that we are approved but there is that nagging feeling of doubt something will go wrong between now and when we actually have the card in hand. It's also a pain to travel in limbo between now and having the new card. We have a few important flights coming up and I'm worried someone in TSA will notice the expiration date on my wife's card and not understand the letter that says it's approved. I realize there's nothing I can do but it is annoying. On the plus side this will be the final annoyance for ten years.

I guess we all were approved when they had their system down. Remember, they had all the dates mixed up and such.

I, too, am afraid they can't find\forgot our cases somewhere. :bonk:

I am still waiting like the rest of you. I am getting ready to buy a house and will eventually have to submit a copy of my current green card for the loan approval. This is annoying. Has been almost a month since approval and no card yet. What is their problem? Nobody really knows, anyway.

This doesn't seem the first time that this happened. I found an older thread from 2009 where approved I-751 people were waiting for their green cards for two months.

This doesn't seem the first time that this happened. I found an older thread from 2009 where approved I-751 people were waiting for their green cards for two months.

I saw that too, but the reason for that delay back in May 2009 was that they were switching the design of the cards and the delay was publicized on USCIS' website.

Wish they had better communications so we could know what was going on. An online status that worked and said something along the lines of 'you are X days away from card production' would be nice... Wishful thinking

Sympathise with you guys who are buying houses and traveling... We are moving on June 9th, 59 days after my approval. Fortunately we will still have access to our old mail box for a month or two after the move, though it will be an hour and a half round trip to check the mail  . Fingers crossed card shows up before then to avoid change of address confusion, since I heard that doesn't always go smoothly.
