I'm preparing documents to bring to interview at the US Embassy in Tokyo.

So far I have:

-Appointment Letter received from the NVC

-Copy of DS-230 Part I & II

-Passport

-2 Color photographs

-Original Birth Certificate

-Original Marriage Certificate

Police Certificate was already submitted.

Medical exam results are on the way.

Not applicable for us:

-Court and prison records,

-Military records,

-Divorce decree or death certificate of spouse

In addition to above the State website said I need;

1. Evidence of financial support and

2. All original documents establishing the relationship between the petitioner and the applicant.

Do I need to bring all the things we submitted already like copies of I-864, tax return docs, pictures, and letters from our friends to prove bonafide of marriage? I think I'm going to bring pictures etc, but on the letter from NVC it says that they received all the required Financial Evidence?

Also am I missing something besides from the ones mentioned here?

Thanks!

I think you should bring whatever you have....letters..photos...anything!Copies of documents...Some people might correct me here...but that's what i'd do.

If you have any e-mails...or any kind of correspondence...

I am gonna ask a question myself..how do we provide phone invoices?Should i just underline his number, cause the invoice is not in english...caue how could i translate so many pages, for the time we've been apart..that'd be crazy! We send texts to each other every day...i wanna show them that...but how?

This link was very helpful thank you!

So for the interview packet, it says bring I-130 set, I-864, etc (optional). Did you guys actually bring all these already submitted documents? Should I take them with me just in case? They are not mentioned in the letter I received from NVC....

I was thinking about that too, but I came to the conclusion that it is too difficult if not possible. I think I'm just gonna bring birthday cards that was mailed to me etc...

I went to Tokyo to attend the interview at the Tokyo consulate with my finacee.

We took mountains of documents. I think all that did was slow us down since someone had to go through them. In hindsight it might have been best to stick with the basics. But then again, having extra stuff just in case can't hurt.

Here is the checklist of everything that's required:

Hi there,

I had my interview last week (not in Tokyo in Dublin) but the Interviewer had my full file in front of her.

I thought about bringing alot of things with me but in the end I just brought a small folder with the following:

My passport & passport photos

a copy of the I-864 info along with up to date payslips and the tax extension for this year

Certified copies of Marriage Cert & Birth Cert

Police Cert

Medical

All that was taken from me was the Police Certificate but I was gad to have the others as back up. The interviewer used my file to establish all of her questions and was very nice. Because of this preparation on VJ I was very relaxed and she could tell, I was only with her for 10 minutes.

Hope this helps and Good Luck :)

yea I'll take "optional" documents with me just in case, but won't be submitting them unless they ask me to. Sticking to basics still is the golden rule and the way to go I think.
