I notice a lot of people call and check to see if the NVC got their petition after their NOA2. I know I don't have to call and can wait until my fiancé gets his packet 3, but are there any other advantages, besides knowing if they got it, to calling? thanks!

Not really... the whole purpose of calling NVC in the K-1 process is to get your case number (should be starting by LND for you), and just know where is your case (received at NVC or left the NVC and en route to your embassy).

Depending on some countries, having your case number earlier permits you to book your medical and pay visa fees right away. I don't know for London. For Paris, I just needed my case number in order to write it in one form.

You can also choose to skip calling them, anyway they will send you a letter with your case number (but some members have reported never received it).

Hi, You can call NVC at 1-603-334-0700 and speak to a human to get your new case number/ info. They're very helpful and nice to speak with at NVC. Have your case number, names of petitioner & beneficiary, address and they will give you an update. You can call as much as you like to check the status. Good Luck :)

Also, when your case will be at the embassy stage, call the Department Of State (DOS) if you want some update about your case (no more NVC). You will need to give them your case number. :)

Check http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/DOS to know which number to call and how to reach a visa specialist (operator).
