I am still waiting for NVC to assign me a case # as they have not received my file yet. my NOA 2 was 4/2/2012. I am wondering what documentation I need to start gathering when I finally get my case # to expedite this process.

thanks in advance

I suggest reading some guides here on VJ (you can find the links to them in my signature below). You should start preparing the AOS and IV packages while you wait. Read up on them to know what you need.

Hi Ali

I am also in a same boat as you're. Petition for in-law recently got approved. NOA2 is dated 4/9/12 and its still awaiting on a case number from NVC. Per my phone conversation with NVC agent, he stated it will take upto 15 biz days before we get a case number. In the mean time, I have made a copies of my last three years tax returns, employment letter and will be finishing up I864 form pretty soon since I will be the sole sponsor

As far as documents from beneficiary is concerned, I am bit confused as to what to send to NVC. I am thinking they would need DS-230 form, copy of mother-in-law's birth cert and marriage cert. Not sure if I need to send originals or copies ? I am researching it now...

Thanks!

Read the guides, they'll tell you what you need. The certificates in the IV package need to be original/certified copies.

Keep in mind, if this is this is for an IR-5 visa, the IV package will also need the petitioner's birth certificate and current (and past) marriage certificates, if applicable.
