As of right now, I make more that the poverty line that they have...but my tax returns from last year does not show that..It was only for last year though. My tax returns for 2010 and 2009 were fine. I was just unemployed for a short period of time in 2011, but back on track now. What can I do? Will they hold that against me?

Get a letter from your employer to state your job security and salary.

I'd also have a back up plan for someone to possible be a co-sponsor if you know someone willing to do so.

Show all 3 years worth of tax transcripts and write a statement about your brief unemployment lowering your overall total income for 2011. Include a letter from your employer and a few months worth of your most recent pay stubs to prove your current income meets the 125% of the poverty level requirement for your household size. Current income is more important than what you didn't earn last year.
