I was calling NVC waiting for a human, and was looking over our I-797 NOA2 notice and noticed that in the beneficiary box, above my fiancee's name is a set of numbers, "A00 000 000." I have searched and googled trying to find out the purpose of this set of numbers, to no avail. Any VJers know what is the purpose/use of this set of numbers?

Thank you.

That's your fiancee's Alien Registration Number. She will need it, for example, at the AOS stage.

This number stays with her for life (like a SSN).

Thanks didopage for the prompt response.

I was thinking that's what it was. But, I didn't want to make an incorrect assumption.

You're welcome. My fiance is a naturalized US citizen (since 15 years) and there is his Alien number above his name in our NOA2.

It's also called the "A number". By the way, hang onto the NOA2, and keep copies of it in a safe place, since you will definitely need it for adjustment of status.

Oh yeah! Don't throw anything away!

Actually, with all of these documents, petitions, forms, supporting statements floating around my desk, her desk, the government worker's desk, I have burned the data to CD for storage purposes. It was somewhat tenuous to obtain some of this information, so I wanted to keep a e-copy of the data for our files.
