Thank pushbrk. I will read those documents. I will ask if something that I can't get

Apprecaite

Great. When you do, read carefully and interpret literally. If you don't understand the literal meaning of the words, ask. Don't change the meaning to suit yourself.

The affidavit of support asks about your past income but you qualify based on a Consular Officer's belief that your current and continuing income will be sufficient to support the immigrant. There is no question about "current year" income. "Current" income is the key. Unemployment income can be stated as current income but it is "considered" temporary. They're looking for how you're going to support your wife for the next three years after her arrival.

Find a job or find a joint sponsor.

If you have a job with sufficient income, no need for a joint sponsor. Just one reasonably current pay stub showing YTD income and rate of pay will be sufficient evidence of current income.

I have same problem with this matter too..my husband wants to prove to me that the unemployment is an income and it will not affect our visa, that why i try to explain to him that even your earning above poverty this past three years and your working union labor 225 but this recently your laid off so meaning your asking for unemployment while you dont have work. i told him to get joint sponsor. But he is hard headed i know i am right coz his work is temporary..

he is working under union hall labor 225

itr 2011-$45,285

2010--$49,839

2009-$43,129

then he got work from feb 2012 up to ending april 2012 i seen his ytd gross income -$16, 366.59 net income:12, 682.53

but he was laid off end of april so he dont have work now and expecting to go back again on sept. I know i am right that we need to get joint sponsor regarding on his income..please help me if im right

Your situation is kind of a gray area. With a consistent earnings history as a union laborer, he may well be right but it will be safer to have a joint sponsor. Worst case without one is they won't issue the visa without an updated affidavit signed after he returns to work in September.

While unemployment IS a TEMPORARY income, his union affiliation is not.
