Hi,

I have a question about question 14 on DS 157:

"Do you have any specialized skills or training, including firearms, explosives, nuclear, biological or chemical experiences?"

My fiance has a degree in microbiology. Should he answer "yes" and then just write university degree in microbiology?

Do you think that will be okay?

Many thanks!

It's the question right above the question about military service-- which he has also completed.

Sarah, my opinion (only, no direct experience) would be to answer yes honestly. They may have other questions about it though. Has he traveled? If so, they might worry that he was a member of the Communist party in order to do so.

It will perhaps depend on how he has used his degree while employed in Cuba. No direct experience with this, just heard second hand info. And it led to the microbiologist getting a visa but it took a little longer.
