CFO hiccup

My fiancee has her visa in hand but we've run into trouble with the CFO folks in Cebu. Namely she has been asked to produce a document which proves my "singleness", I think a CENOMAR something-or-other. At any rate, I'm wondering who has had to get this paperwork and for those who have already done so, what it the agency we deal with-and what documents will they need from me to provide adequate proof? Thanks.

Thanks for that but maybe you misunderstood me. It is me who needs to show them that I am single, not her; she's already got her CENOMAR obviously as she needed it for the visa process. I did go to that website but it seems like that document is clearly intended for Filipinos, not otherwise. Please advise.

A tax transcript, W-2 form or paycheck stub would show your marital status.

You can get that document from the US Embassy Manila. First time I have heard of CFO asking for this type of document. Normally it is used for folks who want to marry in the Philippines. Basically it is you certifying that you are single and they notarize the document. CFO never asked my wife (fiancee at the time), for anything like that)

From the US Embassy Manila, website:

Affidavit in Lieu of a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry

Any foreigner who wishes to marry in the Philippines is required by the Philippine Government to obtain from his/her Embassy a “Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage” before filing an application for a marriage license. For information, please click here.

many LGU's (Local Government Units), are now also requiring foreign citizens to acquire an NSO Cenomar before marrying in the philippines! I had to get one, along with my affadavit from the Embassy, before my wedding in Tampakan this past October. The process is the same as for a Philippine citizen. That's probably why they are asking your fiancee for one, from you. Just go online and apply, and have her arrange to pick it up! :D best of luck to you.
