Timeline

Hi, my name is Ashley and I'm currently immigrating from Canada to the USA

Here's a quick timeline

April 2011 - entered USA with extended visit grant via Canada (air)

- was set to return to Canada Sept 1st 2011 (ground)

August 2011 - Husband's divorce finalized

- spoke with lawyer (bad idea I know now), decided to get married instead of going back to Canada.

Setepmber 2011 - Went on Vacation, got Married (no, we didn't do Vegas lol)

November 2011 - Applied for marriage cerficiates - arrived 3 weeks later

December 2011 - met with lawyer, did paperwork.

Dec 30 - paperwork recieved by USCIS

Feb 27- biometrics taken (had to reschedule due to location conflict

March 3 - EAD card arrives

March 22 - email notification that interview has been scheduled.

April 24th - interview date :)

i have a few problems. My lawyer submitted our original copies of everything. I don't have my plane tickets, I don't have my I-94 (I don't recall having one, they stamped my ticket at the border not the paper I had to fill out). So not only do I not have those things to take to my interview, I don't have them to apply for and SSN to get the other documents for the interview (bank accounts, utilities etc).

My lawyer has proved herself incompetent. She filed the originals. All paperwork filled out in my maiden name. I'm at a loss at where to start to try and correct her mistakes.

Any suggestions would be :help: ful and appreciated.

Okay, you found the forum! I answered about the I-94 in your other thread. At your interview, the interviewer will have everything you submitted. In the interview letter (which you haven't received) it says to bring all of those things unless you already submitted them. I suggested in your other thread that you bring copies to the interview to swap out for the originals. Also, ask the interviewer to change the name in your GC to your married name.

What else?

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

you are awesome. :)

I tried to paste this as a reply to the other thread

My lawyer is a flake I swear. I'm going to take partial responsibility, we chose a lawyer in our home sate, knowing we had to move temporarily (6 months or less) to another. We just didn't want to put off filing any longer.

I have my birth certificate.. Only a copy of that was sent... but I'm assuming she sent in originals for the rest since I never got them back. I'm going to get a hold of her tomorrow and see if she submitted them. I will take in the large packet she sent to me with all the forms and such copied. They can keep the marriage cert, I bought extra so they could.

I'll look up the local ssn office now.
