I-130 Question

Hello,

I've been leaving in Brazil for the last 11 years, where I've been living with my wife and kid waiting out the 10 year bar. The question I have is we plan on filing the I-130 next week and I wanted to know what should I put in the fields where it asks for my home address? We've lived in the same location for the past 7 years. How would I receive notifications? Just a little confused since we need to file our application at the Chicago lockbox. Should I put my parent address for my home address or what?

Do not use usa address. Use foreign address and write on the cover letter lived together in brazil for 11 years and no DCF available. This might get them to pricess it quicker

Others correct me please if I am wrong, but I think DCF is available in Brazil. Take a look at the link below:

The principal request is that you live in Brazil for at least 6 months, but it's been already 11 years so you should have no problems related to DCF.

You can also write an email to immigrationrio@state.gov and ask whatever you want, they take a few days to answer but they have given me all the answers I needed so far.

DCF means you can file the I-130 in Rio instead of Chicago Lockbox and it generally takes less time than the normal processing time. Good luck!!!

I'm down south. Santa Catarina, so I have no clue if DCF is available. I read this page http://brazil.usembassy.gov/reconsiderations.html and immediately assumed that I had to send to Chicago.

I had the same feeling too, anyways I suggest you to write them now or maybe call tomorrow, ask it straight and I am sure by wed/thu this week you will have your answer.

Ah and don't forget the kid will need his/her own I-130.

Brazil is not on this list of overseas USCIS field offices, therefore, DCF is not available in Brazil.

What you were reading about is exceptional filing at the US Consulate, below is a quote from this page regarding exceptional filing:

Petitioners, who do not reside in a country with a USCIS field office, but who believe that their situation merits an exception, may request an exception to allow the Consular Section at the Embassy or Consulate to accept the filing. Each request for an exception will be evaluated individually.
