Hi All,

I wonder if anyone knows that answer to this question-I want to know if the U.S. Embassy will take outgoing mail to the U.S., in particular my 2011 tax return. I've lived here 5 years and usually do E-file, but I found out that since our adoption finalized in 2011, we are FINALLY eligible to claim the $13,300 (or whatever it is) adoption credit. But to do so, we need to attach the adoption decree to your tax return, which requires a paper filing.

If the Embassy doesn't do it, what is the safest way to send our return back to the States?

Thanks,

Paul

Or DHL.

Or DHL.

Ditto or.. I am sure you know lots of people coming back to the states. Ask one to mail if for you over here. Over them 20 bucks for the trouble. Lot cheaper than Fedex.

Problem with DHL is that is not everywhere in the States, they did serious down-sizing and closed many locations a few years back after they where bought by a Germany company.

Yes, DHL did cease domestic pick and delivery operations and close major hubs do the economy and the hair-cut they were taking from FedEx and UPS. However, there's still plenty of drop-off and shipping locations remaining, especially in and around large metropolitan areas.

I guess Tucson doesn't qualify as "in and around" , DHL doesn't hunt here.

Hank, DHL has plenty of love for Tucson. I did a search on the DHL website which revealed 75 results -- 10 of which are located in Tucson proper. Of that 10 -- 9 are DHL Authorized Shipping Centers and 1 actual DHL Staffed Facility.

Oh DHL finds the hunting "in and around" Tucson target rich. Here's the link to location results -- you can see what I saw. I even called three of those locations to make sure live bodies are present.

I know a few DHL drivers and they are all out. If they have a facility here not sure what it does. :hehe: But that's OK... 11 hours and I am out of here heading to Manila, if I need documents delivered I can handle it...

Too bad to hear about DHL's problems. I've lived outside the U.S. almost 5 years, and apparently I've missed a lot of this stuff that's happened. The problem is I live in Batangas City and all we have here is DHL and LBC, I've never seen a FedEx office around. But since all I'm doing is mailing tax returns to the IRS center in Austin, TX, I have to assume that DHL would be able to do this for me.

No worries, DHL still has a healthy international business. They just don't do an domestic pick-up and delivery (as in door-to-door) in the U.S., however, they still ship packages and documents that are dropped off at DHL Authorized Shipping Centers.
