In about two weeks we will make application to bring my wife's son (21 and unmarried) from Brazil to come here to study English and to live with us while he is here.

We have all the documentation to obtain the I-20 form from the school so he can have his interview in Brazil to obtain this student visa. There is no question about financial support since my income is more than sufficient and we have the needed funds on deposit.

Here is the question: He is 21, has a job, but no car and no home which he owns. One of the requirements is that he show strong ties to his home country for the interview. Well, his mother married me so she is here in the US. We are trying to figure out how to address that issue when he goes to his interview.

Anybody have any thoughts? Or since his support here is guaranteed is it that big of a problem coming from Brazil?

Appreciate any thoughts people might be able to share which could assist us in making sure his student visa is issued.

Thanks

It would be better if the support was not from you, from his family in Brazil.

His Mother is here, but presumably all his other relations are in Brazil?.

Study course might also be an issue, do I understand it is just a language school?

Yep it is "just" a language school, but there is special provision for language only study in the law. As far as support, while it would be better if it came from somewhere in Brazil, there is no way anyone there has enough money..and as much as I love him, I can't just mail him $14,000 to put in his bank account so we will have to make do with money from here. Yes, all the rest of the family is in Brazil.
