what is the difference between mandatory AP and internal AP? Just where they are processed? Is there a time difference? You seem to be the expert on AP togetherforever13

God delays but doesn't forget.

Mandatory AP-done at washington level. usually means name hit or name and background checks. In depth background checks done here. See if you have any bad guy friends. see if your name is similar to bad guy or your birthday. FBI has to perform these checks by hand and looking through papers. Can be very slow.

Internal AP-done at embassy level. Can be simple documentation check to see if all papers turned in. Can be easy name and background checks. Can also be in depth relationship check where they send people to your friends and family to see if they know about your marriage.

Both can take a long time

Both can take a short time

Once Mandatory AP is done it can be placed into Internal AP then it can be thrown back into Mandatory AP and back again--- this is a VERY long process.

You will NEVER know when AP is really done until the visa is in your hand

evelyn if you call them please post and let us know what kind of response you get. you know that we are both in AP together, went in around the same time. ours probably started about a week after yours since we had to send in our marriage certificate. when i called the embassy about a month ago she told me we may hear something around the end of march or april. i think the average in ankara for turkish citizens is around two months, but i could be wrong. just trying to be patient...

Melody, I think that would be our timeline since the embassy right now is closed. ( I think partially) They will back to normal March 20th. I keep checking the Administrative process link in Ankara and it has not been update. The last update were February 23. I am just praying to God this process end soon for both of us.

Yeah I also check the website everyday and noticed that it hasn't been updated in a while. When I talked to the lady at the embassy I asked her about the embassy closing and she said that it won't affect our administrative process, so hopefully it won't be prolonged more than it has to be. I realllyyyy hope we hear something by april, our baby is due in May :/

the site is for Ankara (Turkey) administrative process not for Bangladesh, therefore, I don't think this site would apply to you. You can call the state department 202-663-1225

http://turkey.usembassy.gov/immigrant_admin_processing.html I hope this will help you if your case is in turkey
