We had our interview today in Montreal. Got to the consulate around 7:15 and there were a few other people waiting, but we were the only ones organized with our passports and interview letter so when they opened the doors at 7:30, we got to go through security first, which was a breeze, and then went downstairs to wait for the elevator.

They opened the elevator up at 7:50 and we were the first ones on and then the first ones off on floor 19. Turned left and we were the first ones at Window 14, where we had to wait again. The window opened at 8:30 and we got number C-1, then it was time to wait once more.

Around 9:15 C-1 was called and we spoke very briefly with the lady before she sent us to pay the fee at the cashier's window (14). We returned to her window with the receipt and she then asked us for our documents. We had a lot of them to give, since NVC had lost our case file and they wanted to rebuild the case as much as possible (they warned us in advance, so we had originals and copies of everything, including all correspondence with NVC).

By 9:45 we were back in the waiting room watching for C-1 to be called for the interview. This was probably our longest wait - until almost 10:30 - but when we were called, we went to the interview room where they only asked me a handful of questions (how did we meet? what was our first date? what do we have in common?) and that was it. Everything's in order, come back tomorrow at 2:30 to pick up the visa. We were out of the consulate by 10:45 and I'll go back tomorrow for the visa! Yay!

Super news

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
