:( Hello,

I've reading alot of cases here at visa journey, and alot of people say that their case has been touched. how do you guys know that? where do you look? I'm a US Citizen and file i-130 for my husband, my priority date is january 19, 2011, I also would like to know if my case has been touched. another question. how long is CSC taking to process I-130 for husband? I've heard they are the slowest , is that correct?

thank you all in advance

It's been more than a year since you've filed your i130??? You'd be best off contacting your senator, TBH.

Log in to USCIS to check your application update. It's in your portfolio.

The CSC is "currently processing applications received on or before August 5th, 2011" -- you've got a looonnnggg way to go, BUT maybe you'll get lucky :)

I've been told when an app is touched it doesn't mean anything. My NOA1 is 12/5 and my app was "touched" 12/27..... I haven't heard anything... at all. Sooo, don't put too much stock in it ;)

oh my mistake my priodity date is january 19, 2012  ....opps

Priority date means nothing for US citizens filing for spouses.

The only time it is important is when non US citizens are filing for a family member.

try that link -- if you've already created an account go to "sign in to my account" on the left side. Then on your portfolio you'll see where it says "updated" at the bottom

could you explain to me why is it not important to US Citizens filing for spouses? please and thank you

Because visa numbers are always available for US citizens that are filing.

Priority date is for NON-US citizens filing because they do not have a visa available and have to wait for one to become available.

Pretty simple.

@brendavera i think what @inky meant to convey was that since you are a USC and filed for I-130 you dont have a priority date - but the date that is noted on your notice of action is known as NOA1 - that is the date you want to remember and keep track of when you look at the USCIS website and see what dates they are processing now - the dates shown on their site will be the the last date they processed - so you want to be earlier than that - and then be asking for updates!

Sometimes it might say a timeframe - like 5 months - but as of right now - its showing a date instead.

Key thing to look for though - is that the information is only updated once a month and the data is only from 2 months ago - right now, it shows

"Posted: February 21, 2012" at the top of the page but at the top of the table it will say

"Field Office Processing Dates for California Service Center as of: December 31, 2011" or whataver service center you choose :)

Good luck with your journey - and help the rest of us by keeping your timeline up to date :)

NOA1 August 3 2011
NOA2 April 14 2012
NVC receipt May 17 2012

Case upgrade request sent via email April 3 2013

Case upgraded by NVC from F2A to CR1 April 19 2013

Interview June 6th 2013 - APPROVED - case upgraded to IR1 at time of interview based on time married

Visa in hand June 10th 2013

IV fee paid using ELIS June 17th 2013

POE Houston July 15th 2013

GC arrived in mail Aug 12th 2013

SSN card arrived in mail Aug 19 2013 (1 week after applying)
