Good day everyone:

Do I need letters from friends validating they have seen and witnessed my fiancee and I being together? I lived in the Philippines and dated her for 6 months prior to me leaving for US late August. We have many friends from all over the world that can validate our relationship if needed. Or will photos and everything else from checklist be enough? As mentioned in other posts, this is my second time going through the K1 as I hired an Attorney first time with my EX fiancee. My former Attorney had me obtain letters from friend which I now wonder maybe was not needed based on forums I am reading along with the guidelines from VJ.

Thank you for your help.

That Answer is NO. You do not need letters from friends. Also USCIS does not ask or require this.

The Only Document I can think of is if the Beneficiary is underage and permission from the parents is needed.

However, if you please. She can provide friends wriiten statements for her interview but that is not needed as well.

Thanks for the information. No I have not filed yet. I am obtaining all my documents and going through everything closely as well as I start a new job on Feb 20th so no need to throw more confusion in this process. My self imposed deadliine to submit everything is end of March. Thanks again

Affidavits were requested by USCIS in our RFE. If you can easily get these and there isn't more trouble than the postage, I'd say to go ahead and do everything that is a possibility when it is easy and not when you are scrambling. For us, we had everything ready in case of an RFE except for such letters (they'd have been easier to get 2 weeks earlier when I was in that country rather than after returning home--delays are excruciating) and another weird thing. (Details are in the link in my signature line.)

They should NOT be asking you for this, but it does happen sometimes and if it is painless, I'd say do it. I also wear my seatbelt in my truck even though I don't anticipate an accident.

Before filing, check out "frontloading" threads. This could save a world of frustration down the line. Good luck.

I never used ANY personal statements from anyone for any purpose throughout the process. Petition to citizenship they are not needed. At best, they would be very weak secondary evidence.

I think you will see that affidavots were suggested as a form of evidence. They are not required, My guess is the RFE suggested OTHER items also, correct? If affidavits are your main evidence you are in deep do-do. If you have other good evidence, affidavits are throw aways.
