I actually put mines in a loosed binder. I used plastic sheets for everything and well organized. I never had to highlight anything. I made it very clear to what it was through cover sheets per plastic sheet i used. It went through right away with out an RFI. I did that because people kept telling me to use a lawyer and when I found out it was 1700 dollars on the lawyers part, I kindly said bye and hung up. Thought to myself, if lawyers can do it, a simple man in a simple town can do it.

I am also doing the same thing for my fiancee for when she goes for the interview. I know that they will be asking for a lot of paperwork and I am sending a 1.5 inch binder highly organized. She is from the Philippines, they don't know what organize means over there.

I showed her the big difference when we walked into the U.S. Embassy compared to the Philippine immigration. Animals over there pushing and shoving! The only thing missing from the picture was the "throwing of the feces."

Do you mean to use a highlight pen and mark important info?

I have made notes on the top or bottom of the page to describe records that are not obvious. Other records like boarding passes and itinerary's are rather self explanatory, so I did not make a note on that paperwork.

When I was in the Philippines, my fiancee and I flew from Manila to Cebu together, I have boarding passes for both of us on the same flight, so I hope that by itself makes the point. I have also included many other documents. I am now choosing which pictures to send and I will write on the back names, dates, and place. I met her family and I will include that picture as well.

I hope to send in my initial package tomorrow morning. I am thinking Fed-Ex express mail.

I sent mines through certified mail with a return receipt. Is it just me or did FedEx triple in prices?

I just received the signed G-325a and Intent to Marry from my Fiancee. Now, I need to finish up printing needed documents, etc.

I was thinking of putting all of the documents in a thin Report binder. I have some protective covers to put signed documents and pictures in and I am thinking of hole punching non-signed documents. Then putting all documents in this report binder. I was thinking this might help prevent lost documents if the pages are loose.

Should I use the report binder or just mail the documents loose in an envelope?

I did exactly what you are describing and it worked out great for me.. they say that once they receive the docs they will put them in their own folders but for me it was better and easier to have it organized this way

I hope this helps!! and good luck!!

I found on the USCIS website to NOT use a highlight pen.

"Use black or blue ink only. Do NOT use highlighters or red ink on your application as they may make your materials undetectable when scanned."

Lockbox Filing Tips

I thought you werent supposed to either originally, but this lady assured me I should. Itd be nice if they would get their policies straight

We had over 30 trips in the last two years, so we included an additional sheet showing the trips timeline in the past two years.

The evidences were organized separately according to categories and labelled with number.

We had a color code for the evidences, names were highlighted in green, dates were highlighted in purple.

The timeline looks like

Dec, 12th 2010 - Dec, 30th 2010

XXX visited YYY for christmas for 2 weeks in the US.

Evidences included

- XXX's passport stamp ( page 14)

- Boarding pass ( evidence 3)

- Picture of XXX and YYY together at her parents house ( picture 1)

- Credit card receipt of money withdrawn ( evidence 5)

The whole packet was put in a big folder with paper clip and sent in a large envelop

I read somewhere that they organize the files in those legal type folders which use 2 holes punched in the top of the documents. So, I sent my documents with tabs attached to the bottom of the pages, along with a detailed table of contents included in the cover letter. I labeled everything quite specifically. By way of example: "Tab 8 - September 2011 visit to Moshi, Tanzania. Tab 1A - Passport Stamps - September 2011 visit to Moshi, Tanzania. Tab 1B - Boarding passes - September 2011 visit to Moshi, Tanzania. Tab 1C - pictures of September 2011 visit to Moshi, Tanzania."

I also included a label on each document so that there would be no doubt about what was being presented. I believe I even circled the passport stamps and labeled them according to which visit they applied to (since sometimes there were multiple passport stamps on the same pages of the passport).

I'm not sure if this is the best method, but it worked for us! No RFE.

I too sent mine with certified mail through the postal service using express mail which is guranteed to deliver by the next day. It cost $18.00 and it was delivered on time and I was able to track it. How much did FedEx cost you?
