This is country specific, some countries issue one general certificate covering the whole country, for others you need one for each state or province you lived in, etc...

Refer to this page on Department of State website for information. However I can tell you by experience that the instructions on how to obtain a certificate are not always accurate! Better ask in DR forum :)

And here is your answer.

Police Records

Available. A certificate, called a "Certificate of No Judicial Records" (Certificado de No Antecendentes Judiciales), is obtainable by both Dominicans and non-Dominicans 18 years or older who permanently reside in or have resided in the Dominican Republic. Interested parties must apply in person at any office of the Prosecutor General (Procuradora Fiscal) throughout the country. They must present a Dominican national identification card (cedula), 2 passport-sized photographs and the fee in cash (330 Dominican pesos as of April 2007). A photocopy of both sides of the Dominican national identification card is also required. The certificate is usually ready the same day and is handed directly to the interested party for presentation during the visa interview.

The format of issued certificates varies as of April 2007; however, post expects greater consistency to be implemented in the coming months. The information on the certificate can be verified by contacting the Fraud Prevention Unit at Embassy Santo Domingo.

i have no idea of how much the fee is right now, so you might want to have at least 1000 pesos. mejor que sobre a que falte.

Thanks alot! I went to state dept site previous poster directed me to and it said the same thing you have here. Maybe you can tell me where do the beneficiaries go to have medical and how much does that cost providing you get only a few of vaccinations.

I just filed but I would like to give my fiance all this info now so that he won't be overwhelmed later. The more answers we have the easier this can be. We really appreciate everyone's help and knowledge. Before coming to this site I was just about to throw my hands up cuz it all seem too much to comprehend. Then I come here and each step is explained and almost any question answered in a polite way. We are so glad, God led me here!

This website tells you the price it also tells you the location for the clinic and what your fiance needs to have the day he goes to do it and also the days in advance he needs to do it before the interview and when he needs to pick them up. Is good to know this type of information but you do know that the wait is a little long.

I do recomend you to tell your fiance that when he goes and takes his 2x2 pictures to have at least 8 of them since he would need it and it would save him few trips to the photo studio ( la gasolina ta cara lol ) he'll use them for the passport if he dont have one and for the police record and the one to send with the l-129F + some he would turn in the date of the interview. && the pictures have to be the USA 2x2 pictures for visas, since if he says 2x2 without expecifying they would give him the dominican style one and if sent with the l-129f you would receive an RFE and your process would be delay a bit and i bet you dont want that to happen. I tell you this because i read a situation like that with the 2x2 pictures in the filling form and it was from DR they where the wrong size.

Yup! Sometimes the best and most accurate answers come from people who have recently gone thorugh the process for the same country (i have learned this on vj). This is very country specific. We all know DR doesn't always "follow the rules" so it might say something online and when you get to the place they tell you otherwise.

My husband just got his police certficate less than two weeks ago, in Azua. He only needed the receipt from ban reservas, and his cedula. Other locations might be a little different. :star:

Nice i see you filed a Cr1 i wished i could of had gotten married like my fiance and i planed in my dec/jan trip but dr made it so complicated for me to obtain certain papers after i was told i didnt need them. I was left with the choice of a really long and expensive process :-(

Im thinking of returning in march but idk if i should retry doing the wedding. And putting in an l-130 instead of the l-129f.

It's up to you, the CR-1 is ultimately the cheapest option, and it takes about the same amount as the K-1. What papers is it that you neeeded that you didn't have to get married over there? The only one I can think of is birth certficate.

It's up to you, the CR-1 is ultimately the cheapest option, and it takes about the same amount as the K-1. What papers is it that you neeeded that you didn't have to get married over there? The only one I can think of is birth certficate.

I didnt have my cedula since ive never had one, and i needed the cedula plus the birth certificate and the acta de solteria + we had to do an appointment to get married. About how long the spouse visa takes? Because if it takes the same time even though is more expensive i might as well just stay with the l-129f

The fiance visa is suppose to take like 2-3 months less, but honestly it all depends what service center your application gets sent and how lucky you get. California service center has been really slow recently while Vermont service center has been fast. For example I filed a CR-1 and my petition was approved in about 5 weeks. It's really the luck of the draw, and of course if you made any mistakes on your application that would also delay it.

The reason I THINK CR-1 is better is because it is about a grand cheaper, you don't have to go through the headache of adjusting status and getting married when your partner comes to the USA, andddd with CR-1 your partner will get here and be able to work in a few weeks. When your partner comes as a fiance he/she will not be able to work for a couple of months. For me it was an obvious choice, but everyone has their own opinion.
