well, the wedding happened

i am now married

next question

can I visit as a family member

how is this done

If you are the USC then you are still subject to Belarus visa laws as being as US citizen...which means you are limited to no more than 30 days per calender year there. There have been cases where Americans have gotten an extension on their visa over there by a few weeks, but I don't know the details on those cases. You or your spouse would have to contact the OVIR's office about that.

Did you get married in the US or Belarus and are you the USC?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

You apply for a visitor visa like any other tourist. Visit the website for the US Embassy in your country.

Invitation visa is also another route. I got this visa the first two times over there.

Are they hard to get? I will have her place the calls after she finishes the docs i need. i think it is still 420 dollars either way. the ten days i just finished there were very busy and we would both like a nice relaxed visit when it isn't -30c in Ruba-2

Invitation visa's are easy to get, especially seeing how your married to her now. She goes to the OVIR office with a copy of your passport and I believe it's like a two week wait tops to get that visa.

The fee is the same along with having to get that stupid insurance at MSQ as soon as you arrive.

I'm just curious...how did you manage to be in Belarus for only ten days and get your marriage and documentation out of the way that quick?

She set a date before hand, i think Feb 16, maybe. Then she got an appointment at zags. I had a letter from my manager saying if i didn't get back to work tomorrow, he was firing my ####. The official looked at it Tuesday and married us on Thursday. After everything we worried about it was simple, 2 translated documents and a copy of my passport translated

now for the waiting game, :bonk:

I think it took like two weeks tops for her to get me my Invitation Visa from the time she went down to the OVIR's office.

Color me surprised. Don't get me started on the in-laws. I'd rather babushka stay out of my business. Her dad is cool though.

lol I hear ya. I was cool with my in laws until I went to stay with them for a few months. Biggest mistake of my life, and after that nightmare I do realize that it will be very easy to live without them. The closest I want to get is when I have to say hello through skype.
