Ive been looking at the step by step guide on how to put together the packets for the i485 and the i130. The documents listed there seems to be different than in the instructions. Please help. I have my packet together using the documents asked for in the instructions.

This is the VJ guide:

The documents are the same. The VJ guide asks for a few duplicates and only a regular copy of the marriage cert is needed, but it is a good guide. What is your specific question?

Yes it is, but keep in mind some things do need to be duplicated, like passport photos (7 for you, 1 for your spouse). Other things, like passport copy do not need to be duplicated, as per the instructions. If you followed each application form instructions to the letter (and treated them separately), then you are good to go.

Im sure I am just being silly, but I can't seem to get the information to add up to 7 photos for the immigrant? What are all the 7 need for? Going through my own application, I can only see it asking for 3?

1 for I-130, 2 for I-485, 2 for I-131, 2 for I-765. 1+2+2+2=7 ;)

I-131 and I-765 are optional forms, but most people file them. If you are not filing one or both of them, then your number will be lower.

Ahh that would be why!! I wasn't counting the to optional forms! I'm going to have to get 14 then, so I can have a copy for my records too!

We used a program, which I found incredibly useful, called passport photo studio. You download it and then pay $10 or something for a license, but then you can format and print all of the passport photos you need. (You need a printer that can print photo-quality and photo paper, obviously).
