Is there really anything to translate? I requested one few years ago, and well, that was empty (apart from the ministry address and all that).

What does it look like? :)

Yeah, well it is kind of empty. But there's just two sentences I need translating -

Releve des condamnations devant figurer au bulletin no.3 en application de l'art. 777 du code de procedure penale

En l'absence des condamnation figurer au bulletin no.3, celui-ci ne comporte qu'une barre transversale. (Art. R.84 du code de procedure penale)

I understand the meaning but just don't know how to translate 'bulletin no.3, l'art 777.

The second one says something like - In the absence of any criminal conviction nothing but a diagonal line will appear in the box above.

"bulletin no. 3" is like "report #3". The number 3 report is for serious criminal convictions only.

"l'art. 777" is an abbreviation for "the article #777"

I'm not perfect in english but your translation seems good.

OK, so I guess if I put report no 3. US immigration should know what I"m talking about.

How about Releve des condamnation devant figurer au bulletin no.3 - Statement of convictions appearing in report no 3 in relation to article 777 of the criminal procedure code

It looks good. Anyway, I would bet consular officers at the London Embassy already know what the french police certificate looks like. So if they see the diagonal line and see the ministry address on top, they will understand quickly.

You can request it online here : https://www.cjn.justice.gouv.fr/cjn/b3/eje20

It is done within 2 days (if so much!) and posted to your home address.

To get it translated, even if the page is almost empty, you need the header and footer translated, so go to the Alliance francaise in your country. This is the French cultural center for Language learning. There is supposed to be one in almost every country in the world.

Hope this helps!

Relevé is more like "record" than "statement". It's never easy to translate legal stuff like that!

I think I would say something like: Record of convictions which must appear in report number 3 in accordance with article 777 of the code of criminal procedure.
