Vaccines required in Brasil??

Greetings,

Does anyone have a list of vaccines that the doctor will require for the medical to be considered complete in Brasil? Ana called the doctor in Sao Paulo but just reached her secretary who would not (or could not) tell her what she would need. Ana would prefer to have all her required vaccines before she goes to the doctor as the vaccines there can be pretty expensive. Any help or advice is appreciated.

The doctor will tell her.

Depends on her age.

Thats BS!!! Of course they can say the vaccines by phone!!!

When I did my medical, the secretary told me EVERYTHING I needed to do! They even send by mail the prescriptions for tests and vaccines. This way you go all ready for the consultation and leave the place with your sealed envelope.

Suggestion: Ask her to call another doctor and search here in this forum because it was discussed b4.

I really cannot remember the list right now, mainly because I just needed to get the Pneumonia shot.

Good luck!

Many - if not all - the vaccines required - can be taken for free at postos de saúde. My doctor also wouldn't tell me which ones I needed to take. But it didn't make any difference. I had to go there and bring him the blood tests results and X-ray anyway, so he could type the report for me.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Yes I found it strange they would not tell her. I will tell her to demand to speak to the doctor, since the secretary seems pretty unhelpful. Thanks for the input!

The list is the same for everyone, the difference depends on her age and which vaccines she has already had and when. Perhaps that was what the secretary meant - without knowing when her last tetanus shot was, for example, she couldn't say if she would need one.

You can find all the information here:

I just called Dr. Garrido´s yesterday (21-22748641) and got with his secretary the vaccines I will need (in my case just two). The lady was very nice with me... Also, she told me everything I needed to do, so I can have the appointment one day before my interview. I am from Bahia and we don´t have a "doctor" here.

I personally think it's the doctor's choice to advise the applicant, over the phone, as to which vaccines and exams will be necessary. I don't see it as wrong if they want to meet the applicant in person and ask the pertaining questions to determine that.

I called Dr. Garrido´s office. I asked his secretary and she told me which ones I should get, based on some info she got from me.

I also went to my GP (Clínico Geral), brought my vaccination card and the list from the NVC. He told me which ones to get and that´s what I did.
