I am the petitioner (the USC) my fiance is the beneficiary (25 y/o male) so I am very nervous about our interview in Islamabad on Feb 23rd. When I went to visit him in Islamabad over the holidays I took the opportunity to deliver most of the paperwork that he would need to take with him to the interview. However, now it will be 2 months additional that I need to send him proof for, soooo since I have to send him a package, I thought to post what I have here and get your thoughts and views on if you think it will be enough:

What I gave him:

1- Full copy of the I-129F Petition with all correspondence between me and USCIS (NOA1, NOA2, RFE and shipping receipts)

2- Chat logs

3- Phone logs

4- Text Message logs

5- Receipts for packages I mailed to him for holidays and his Birthday

6- ezetop receipt for when I would top off his cel phone to add additional minutes

7- I-134 Affidavit of Support

8- Last 6 months of pay statements

9- Last 3 years of tax transcripts

10- Letter from employer

What he will add to the paperwork:

1- Birth Certificate

2- Police Certificate

3- Passport

4- Greeting Cards I sent to him in holiday packages

6- Medical Examination

What I am going to send to him:

1- A picture book I made from Shutterfly of all of our pictures that we took together this past year on my two trips to visit him

2- My itinerary from my 2nd trip I took in December

3- Copies of my Passport to show Pakistan Visa and entry exit stamps from my trip in December

4- Copies of the Boarding passes from my trip in December

5- my January pay statments

6- my January cell phone logs and text message logs

Soo my question is, am I missing anything or are there any other things I/We should include?

Many thanks to all responses and guideance provided.

Kim

in our case they asked for my bank statements for one yr,,which i just send to them with additional they asked for new co-sponsor,, if i was you i would

try to get my 2011 ta transcript b4 then and send that to him,, just to b on the safe side,, they asked for mine which i just send to Mohsin last week to send

to them,, now tax will start proccesing on Jan 18th,,but I went into the IRS office and had them stamped mine that they received it,, and I send that to them.

so mayb u can file early and send it to Usmaan. I hope that helps a little,, but u as u knw everyone case is different,, or atlest the embassy makes it that way.

It may be very difficult to ascertain 2011 TAX papers at his time in January, simply, no banks, employers or investment firms provide the 1099R, w2 so early in the year. You will need to wait at a minimum end of January / early Feb to collect all papers and file your 2011 returns. Then, it would make sense to provide this info. to the embassy, else, having 2010,2009 and 2008 IRS transcripts from IRS would suffice.

Winnings, I know that the 3yrs u mention should b enough, but there is no telling wht the embassy will decide to ask u for thats y i was advising Kim to send that to her fiance, Mohsin had his interview in Nov,and early December, the embassy called him and told him that they need 2011 tax papers, he told them that wouldnt b available untill later in 2012, they said to him we will wait,, they already had 2008,2009 and 2010 from myself and co-sponsor,, i did manage to obtain 2011 tax papers, but I had to go into the IRS office and get it done,, As for Kim she can have that cuz all she have to do id file early, their interview is at the end of the Feb,,my advise is for them to have that handy, to avoid delays.

Mohsin,

Actually the embassy does have the right to ask for tax returns dating back more than 3 yrs only if it's deemed the petitioner's financial responsibility may be questionable in terms solid income history, funds. As long as income level of the petitioner is over the required for example $35,000 year or above, then, the 3 yrs of taxes is fine. When the income levels are bordering the minimum or below, which I don't recall the exact income, then, they have to make sure and check the income history ( 4 yrs ) and make sure the average weights more than minimum requirement. Even then, the embassy will likely scrutinize the application process.

If the K1 interview will be in February or March, then, yes, it would be great to provide a completed 2011 Tax return as evidence especially, if the petitioner's income went up so prove a more solid case.

Thanks so much for your responses! I think it is a great point to have the 2011 tax returns available if needed. As Winning23 stated I am waiting for many documents in the mail before I can actually file. I have more than just the W2 that has to come to me. I have some forms from my schooling and some other investments. I will do my best to file BEFORE Feb 23rd (Usually I have been able to do this at the beginning of February in past years). I can always email the .pdf version of my tax return to Usman to print out. I actually make well over the poverty line and have done so for the past 5 years so I am not much too worried about that.. So since they are asking Mohsin for 2011 I will do my best to make sure Usman has it too. I had intended on being there for his interview but since I made the trip over the holidays to see him he is going to have to go to it without me. So, I just want to make sure Usman is prepared for any question they can throw at him.

What about other evidences for our relationship proof. I feel like we are a little light on that end. Or am I worrying for nothing?

Each and every case is unique i.e. income levels, dependents, etc.. so embassy can question and be pretty stringent based on these qualifiers. If you can complete your 2011 taxes by end of Feb, and provide this info for the interview, that would great. But if your earning is well above minimum levels, I really don't think you have anything to worry about and past 3 yrs yr returns are fine.

The evidence of relationship, I would recommend as many photos of you and your fiancee meeting with family members (within two years), Skype chat logs. Gmail chat also has log history available. Calling card companies which provide PINs, call their customer service request history of calls on the calling card, and email that to you.

Main thing for your beneficiary is to over-provide with good evidence, rather than them questioning the relationship. I think for pakistani men, unfortunately, it's just a tough situation because US government is pretty strict on background checking, making sure the relationship is real, and going alot of due diligence before issuing the k1 visas. Just a fact we have to deal with in this day and age.

OK so one last question that has me completely paranoid. Usman and I didn't have the traditional "engagement party" that is usually thrown in Pakistan. We just simply exchanged rings, agreed to be committed to each other and then filed for the K-1 Visa. Is this going to cause us problems?

I have read some theads here that they ask for the recipt for the engagement ring. If you and your fiance' can get that.
