So I've been reading up on the vaccination requirements, and from what I understand she doesn't have to get the vaccinations to get her k1 visa, only later when AOS is done.

However my next questions is about the chest x rays for the medical exam. Is this required for every country and is there any alternative?

I am personally 100 percent against most of the vaccinations because of my long history in dealing with the medical industry, and now the fact that they want my fiance to get a chest x ray for no reason has me really pissed.

I know the x ray is for detecting TB, but can't they just do a skin test instead? My fiance is perfectly healthy, and worked in the US for 3 separate summers, and the thought of having to subject her to senseless blasts of radiation for no reason (yes i know x rays are supposed to be safe, i have had many) has my stomach in knots.

The only waiver for the x-ray is pregnancy and it is also subject to the doctor discretion.

As far as vaccination while you don't need it for the visa you will need for AOS. And I would recommend to take care of it, when she will do her medical, so you will not have to pay additional money to civil surgeon, when she comes here.

I also am against vaccs and I had to get one against pertussis! There was no way getting around, unfortunately, and I also had to go through the stupid x-ray. But fortunately I didn't had to get the flu shot, so be aware that when you do your medical during flu season, you have to get that stupid stuff as well :bonk:

It doesn't matter what your personal opinions are regarding vaccinations and xrays. You knew it was a part of the process when you started and you have to follow the same requirements as everyone else.

yea i guess we'll just deal with the medical exam and x ray but hold off on the vaccinations and work on a waiver. i guess having to subject ourselves over and over to the senseless rules and waiting periods of government institutions without any say is starting to get to me.....
