Hello All:

I just called the DOS Thanks to Habibi83 for the tip. They said my immigrant VISA was issued today - so I will be checking with the local DHL office soon

the interview was on the 21st so just shy of two weeks that included christmas holiday :)

I was hoping I can share our travel plans and please advise if you forsee any hurdles

First Week of Feb - P.O.E JFK - with my wife and daughter - but only staying for a week

End of April for two weeks, basically lining up some interviews - Officially resign from my current job

August - One way ticket for the whole family, after tieing all loose ends & personal affairs in Cairo. Besides; I have a pretty sensitive position with my employer so I need to give an adequate notice

Thanks

Wonderful news Sherif! I am super happy for you.

I want to ask why you would fly to USA for just 1 week and come back to work? Your visa is good for 6 months and you might need a new medical if you leave in April to stay in USA.

If it was me I might take a week off and fly to see the family too!!!

Congrats and good luck

check how many entries you're allowed with your visa. Check the medical expiration date, etc.

Don't ever do anything you're not willing to explain the paramedics.

Thanks for the insight

I am traveling for a week just to see some additional family members. Besides, it's a long flight to leave my wife and a 16 months old baby alone

But I will definitely check the number of entries

The CO said travel before May

Togetherforever13, good luck on the interview

Sherif

i'm terribly sorry, that's just dead wrong. another medical? for a cR-1/IR-1 visa? no, no, no, and no.

OP - that first trip in? guess what - you get an I-551 stamp in yer passport, good for a year, acts as temporary green card.

as for the rest of it - you should be fine - as yer not outside the USA for more than 6 months on any one duration.

check how many entries you're allowed with your visa. Check the medical expiration date, etc.

unlimited, for 1 year.

medical not needed again after the first POE date.

what are you going on about? this is simply dead wrong, for a CR-1/IR-1 visa.

ok - I get it - you Egypt fellas chimed in cause you saw the post in yer portal.

but...

why in the heck give the OP such wrong info?

Seriously...

Ya, I know, you have some feeling, and you responded with 'how you felt' about his situation.

but

facts is facts. If you dissuade the facts, yer doing him a great disservice, irrespective of yer feelings.
