You said in your time line thar you have passed your interview so whats the hold up? Hope the best comes our way because once upon a time it was shear trepidation if and when your paper work landed in baltimore!

Approved! Got there 20 minutes early and proceeded to to wait for about 90 minutes for my interview. Despite getting a yellow letter with requests for tax transcripts, my IO laughed and said she didn't need to see anything else. Was shocked to see my 4 inch file even had all the original mailing envelopes. My IO laughed again, then suddenly turned serious and said... "We keep everything..." She was great

Changing the colour of my name!

Ceremony was nice and not overly long. Spent time waiting in the wrong line, since the IO who stapled my GC to my letter wrote the wrong table number on it. Still, it was only the line next to me, so they let me go next when the person at the other line was finished which was nice. I thought I was going to have to go to the back of the line again.

After I got my Naturalization certificate, I took a picture, signed it and kissed it goodbye after waiting half an hour in a line to apply for my passport. So while I am FINALLY finished with my Visa Journey , I am still waiting . I guess that is just the story of my life.

Congratulations to everyone who has had interviews today. For those who are waiting for interviews, I hope that you get your letter very soon in the mail. So nice to be over and done with.

Congrats Huffy on becoming a USC!! What a relief I know! :dance:

I have just received an e-mail update saying they sent me the appointment for fingerprinting... 3 months after I filed! When I filed the I-751 it took them less than a month to send me the bio letter.

Not happy.. this process is taking longer than I expected. Updating my info again.

Ouch!!!! That sucks! Well, at least someone "touched" your file. Hopefully everything goes at a faster pace from here after. Hang in there!

Live blogging my oath ceremony...got here at 10:15 and there was a line out the door. Check-in was pretty straight forward. Turned in my green card which was a bit nostalgic for me. There are 739 people becoming US Citizens today. I ran into my IO from my interview which was pretty nice...she was very nice and excited for everyone. I'm sitting and waiting for the judge to show up around noon. Almost there...

I heard, there is an upcoming oath ceremony this coming May 16 it's either Knoxville or Greenville. I was hoping Rylee and I will be included in this batch:) who knows? Lol!

did you have problem also with your name? did you follow philippine code when you got married or follow the US code? my consul didnt allow my real legal name..he said thats not right..so hes requesting for a change name...and i hear that change name takes forever..... i hope not...

So yes...I'm a US Citizen! Took 3 months and 12 days so it was a pretty quick process. The oath ceremony was kinda cheesy for me especially when they played "Proud to be an American" at the end. I thought the pre-recorded message from Obama was a nice touch even though I don't like him. I happened to be in the 3rd row from where they started handing out Naturalization Certificates so I got out of there pretty quickly. The judge came around 12:30 and I was out by 1PM so my ceremony was pretty short.

I am the first in my immediate family to get naturalized so it was a little weird for me to be honest. I don't feel any different but I'm glad that I'll be able to vote in this upcoming election.

Anyways, thanks to all you guys for your support and help throughout my journey. Now I need to help the rest of my family go down this process if they want to =)

Oh one question...do you have to sign the naturalization certificate? There is a section for my signature on the N-550.

Congrats, Pandawars! We walked pretty much the exact same timeline, just one day apart. It also took me 3 months 12 days to naturalize. :thumbs:

I agree the Proud to be an American video was really cheesy. But there was former Chinese citizen just two seats down from me who was singing it quite enthusiastically (if badly) and it was touching to see how important becoming an American was for him. I also took some pictures of him at the ceremony before it began. My husband said that our son quite enjoyed it too and was singing Aaaaaaaay! at the USA part of the song and dancing :rofl: , so at least there were a few people at the oath ceremony who appreciated it.

I signed my certificate because I had to send it off with my passport application, I signed it the same way I sign my credit cards, which was also the same way I signed the back of the picture that's on the certificate. I also asked my IO at the interview how to sign my name and the IO who gave me my Naturalization certificate and they both said to sign my name the way I do for credit cards, etc. But there seems to be a lot of debate as to what the "correct" way to sign it is, so you might want to ask around and see what the general consensus is?

Ok, so today, 3 months and 9 days after the day I sent my N-400, now I am a US citizen It was a kind of small ceremony, it took about 2 hours. There were 56 new citizens from 22 counties, and I was really surprised to find that only one person from Russian-speaking countries was me B-)

By the way, there was no video with the President's message.

And you know, it is very unusual feeling not to have the greencard in my wallet :blink:
