You're right, but what we mean is if the USC received unemployment, even with co-sponsors, how would that be reflected during the application process? That is, if the USC applies for unemployment, is this going to negatively impact the visa process?

If anyone has any personal experience we'd be grateful to hear from you; we doubt we are the only ones to be in this situation...

Nope. There are people that apply with a co-sponsor who haven't worked in a year or more - it's not a problem. That's the reason for having a co-sponsor - they will be legally financially responsible for the intending immigrant. Unemployment benefits have nothing to do with it.

Hi there

We are in the middle of applying for CR1 (received NOA2 and received correspondence from NVC) and the USC has just been laid off. If we have a co-sponsor can the USC receive unemployment?

Any advice gratefully received - thanks.

A "joint sponsor" is what you would need. This has nothing to do with unemployment compensation. If he's receiving it, list it but don't expect it to be considered sufficient, because it's temporary. That's why you have a joint sponsor.
