I was wondering of any of you In Usa are filing for spouses in jordan and what your experience has been with that.

we just were approved for the I-130 and are kind of not sure if my hubby in Amman, Jordan should start doing something there to make things faster... like for example i heard it was good to start doing the police check....since could be weeks for them to finish that. And if so, what exactly do we need to request and from where and if you know how much that would be great.

I also am wondering can we do the electronic filing since i am filing for him and i am in USA *citizen*.

thanks for any input.

married 2006 in jordan *we both live there

2008 had twins *delivered in usa and back to jordan with hubby*

2-2011 i came back to usa with my 3 yr old twins due to one of them needing treatment for severe sleep apnea

7-4-2012 filed I-130

12-?-2012 i-130 approved. (saw online, still waiting hard copy)

Hello:

My husband is from Lebanon and we just went through the entire process without any problems.

Now that your petition has been approved by USCIS, start preparing the documents for the NVC stage. Things will move pretty quick at the NVC stage. Start working on the documents that are needed at the NVC stage. Here is a guide that we used and the NVC process only took a couple of weeks. LingChe NVC ShortCut

Have your husband contact the US Embassy in Jordan and ask them how long the medical and police reports are valid. Each country varies. Medical is usually valid for 12 months.

Keep in mind that all documents required by NVC must be original or a certified copy and translated if it's not in English.

Research the MENA Forum, you may find a lot of answers/experiences from other Jordan VJers. Also, you may want to research the US Embassy in Jordan's website to see if they require additional documentation that is unique to Jordan.

Best wishes and Good Luck.

Congratulations!! *Mabrouk!!* I hope mine will be as easy :)

Can i ask what forms u had to file for him after the I-130 ? I keep being told by other people i know who have done this that we are only gona need to find him a sponser and file a paper that cost about 400 something. I hope that is right. I keep reading things about a paper that costs $1,070 and frankly it has me a little worried how we are gonna swing that.

When he got the interview did he bring supporting things to prove ur marriage like pictures of both of you and phone records ect?? He has those but was told he didnt need to bring anything like that bkus they wont ask for it. ((stubborn men)) sigh.

After your file reaches the NVC and they enter it into their system and assign a case number. The bills that have to be paid for Affidavit of Support (AOS) and the Immigrant Visa application (IV) are $88 and $404 respectively. The forms that will have to be submitted are the I-864 for AOS and DS-230 for IV.

Sponsorship is what the AOS covers. If your income is at or above 125% of the poverty line for your household size, then you qualify to sponsor. If your income is below that 125% threshold then you would require a joint sponsor. The I-864P is where you can find the poverty guidelines (go to the USCIS website and look for it under "forms").

The $1070 figure is the fee people pay when they go through the Adjustment of Status process. This is a process you will not be dealing with because your husband will be given a green card on arrival in the form of an I-551 stamp (the stamp allows the visa paper to act as a temporary green card).
