I just got the letter with the appointment date today, scheduled for jan 13th, however I see here on many people's timelines a walk-in at much earlier date.

Does that mean I don't have to wait until that given date, and could just go any day from now? If so, will that speed up the whole process, being that I will have it done 3 weeks earlier?

Thanks and happy holidays to all!

Some local offices allow people to do their biometrics early as long as they have an appointment letter. Try doing a search for your local office and early biometrics or biometrics walk-in to see what comes up.

I don't know that doing your biometrics early has any effect on the process whatsoever. I've never done it but I know that is possible at my local office.

You can try. Some offices will allow it, some will not. Won't know till you try.

Does it speed things up? Maybe. If your case is just waiting for biometrics it might. In our case, our office was backed up and so the EAD was just being held up waiting for biometrics. When we did a walk in, card production was ordered the same day so it did save a couple weeks. If your local office isn't backed up, it may not make a difference.

Thanks for the replies! I did some research on my USCIS office, 201 Varick St, New York, most people were able to do a walk in while one described not being able to do so. I'm gonna give it a try sometime next week early in the morning.

If any of you out there has done a walk in at the 201 Varnick St in NYC please share your experience. Thanks!!!
