Not sure if it's the same thing, but my wife had a slight problem and cleared it up by washing her face with warm to hot water with Basis face wash. She has been doing this every night before bed for quite sometime and hasn't pretty much taken care of it. Plus she washes in the shower with the Basis instead of regular soap.

She buys it at Wal-Mart, but I'm sure any drugstore carries it.

Probably due to change in your diet. If you eat like most Americans you'll get fat too, then you won't worry so much about the zits.

Changes in diet have nothing to do with acne. Acne is caused by bacteria on the skin. The best way to prevent this is to keep your face clean...even if this means washing it more than once a day. Also, different products can cause your skin to be more susceptible to bacteria. For instance, using something like a facial scrub that is abrasive can cause tiny cuts in your skin that help enable the bacteria to grow.

Again, contrary to popular belief, it is not diet.

Hey there,

I think it's the change in weather, change in environment, stress, hormonal imbalance.. Well i asked that to my dermatologist and she said it could be the reason well it depends upon the person's case though. The best thing is to prevent it. For me I used the proactiv solution it's effective, though i went to different dermatologist here in the Philippines but my fiance recommended as he saw it on info ad about the proactive solution.

Try this website for info about the products...

www.proactiv.com

But also it depends if her skin is compatible with the product's stuff. But well no harm in trying, so far in my quest for the best acne solution this one rocks!!!:-)

GOd bless.

I dont know. Everytime I eat my favorite chocolate bar I break out like a pepperoni Pizza.

My wife also started breaking out a little more after she came here from Brazil also. She also itches a lot from dry skin and I have heard from other Brazilians that have this problem. But that is probably due to the arrid conditions here in NM.

Maybe it's stress that's giving her the pimples. I have problems with it from time to time when I'm feeling stressed. I tried different products including Proactiv. Some products help and some don't. Basically, I try to use products that are safe for acne-prone skin. For the past couple of months, I've been using Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser with Salicylic Acid, and then for the moisturizer, I use Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer... and so far that has helped. It's also cheaper than Proactiv.

Mostly because of stress. Let her try to clean her face with warm face towel and then slightly scrub a cut of lemon everynight.

It may be secondary to stress or could really be a skin problem. I suggest you bring her to a dermatologist...there are a lot of good recommendations from co-VJ members but what is applicable to Juana may not be applicable to Maria...the dermatologist could also recommend the kind of diet she has to follow...

By the way? Do you observe her as stressed?

Borninabarn,

My wife, a Thai, had just the opposite experience. Her complexion is better in the cooler, dryer US climate than it was in Thailand's hotter more humid climate.

Claudeth has a similar problem but some of it is due to her going on the pill. Even before that she was having problems and thinks it has something to do with the soap she was using. She has found a facial wash that seems to help her a lot but during times of stress she will break out again.

I can't offer any explanation into how or why this is happening, but take a look at the info on acne.org, it was the only thing that's ever worked for me. Basically it just advocates using benzoyl peroxide, which is the active ingredient in something like Proactiv, only much cheaper than buying that system.

For me it's a case of very dry weather especially here in Northern CA. I use to be able to contain acne bcoz of meds from the dermatologist, but I found out that drinking lots of water helps us hydrate our skin plus use a mild moisturizer also would help.

My folks have just been to stay with us for a month, and Mum brought me a load of british junk food - tons of chocolate, crisps, biscuits...within three days of starting to scoff the goodies my face was a like a peperoni pizza! I also think a lot of it has to do with stress and changes in the environment, but the same happened when I first arrived in the US - However, for me a major change in diet does affect my skin. Although, some proactiv and changing birth control has really given me great skin (for the most part!)

I am definitely wary of going home, and then breaking out majorly after a couple days!!
