I have a question for some of you that may have had a similar situation. I have read that being denied entry to visit US because of not enough ties does

not effect the granted K-1 Visa. Since I was accepted and am waiting for my passport and I-94 so I can go down to US, will there be additional problems at border

since you were "flagged" ?

The last time I tried to visit my fiance (boyfriend at the time) the officer was downright nasty. She said she could ban me, never let me return, and so on. Dont know

what her deal was but even the other officers around her were scared of her, lol.

I would assume that through the NVC, they would have checked anything that may have been put in the system by a border guard, and would have been brought up

during the interview. I did tell them I was denied on one of the forms, and my interviewer asked why, and said "not enough ties" and she just nodded her head.

Anyone have any idea on this?

I guess my real question would be, does this get checked during the paperwork process?

I am not a confrontational person at all and I was so upset the last time I tried to visit my nerves were so shaken.

Even the interview had my blood pressure up, lol, but she was really nice and calming.

Yes everything is checked during the process, you will not have an issue when entering with your K-1.

The same thing happened to me, except I got denied TWICE at the border. The second time, I too got a really nasty officer saying if I tried at another border with "another story" (???) that I could get banned for life. So, I didn't try anymore after that.

Wasn't asked about my two denials at my interview. And when I got to POE, nothing was asked or mentioned about it.

You'll be fine :)

See, there's this purty K-1 visa stamp in yer passport. It's a lovely thing. Makes the CBP goon all twitchy, as they HAVE to let you in.

Seriously.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Seriously.

They don't HAVE to let you in with a visa. A visa doesn't guarantee entry. There was a Canadian a few months ago that had a K1 visa and got denied at the border.

Im so happy I found this post, I hope someone culd give me some advice..

I am visiting my Fiance in one months time.. When I went for my B2 interview I did not mention that I was engagded, I said I was visiting friends and that was it.. I never lied..

Now im a little worried because we are about to start the K1 process in 1-2 weeks and im worried that they will know im visiting my fiance when i come next month..

Can I still go ahead and stick to my story that I am visiting some friends. Il only be there for a month after that I have to come back to my Job in Korea..

Is there any way they will know at the POE that we have begun the K1 when i arrive?

If i can give any advice, bring everything you can that binds you to your country so that there is not question you are going to stay in US. They are totally looking for anything that

would deem you not leaving from your "visit"

I didnt have anything because I have been back and forth to US so many times I cant count and those questions never came up before. I even visited my bf for 5 months and they never questioned staying. It just goes to show you, you never know what a CBP will ask.

You must be honest and say you are visiting a fiance as the dates of being in US is on one of the form questions. "dates of previous visits to US"

It was something about a past criminal record. The consulate knew about it, but the officer didn't care, so they denied him. So, he married his fiance, applied for a CR-1 visa, got it, and as far as I know, passed through the border.

Thank you for your responce.. Im a little worried now.. Do you think it would be better to start the process once im already there or.... This is so stressful.. I dont want to lie but at the same time im afraid too.. If they deny you entry.. Do you just have to get a plane back to where you come from? Do a return ticket back and a contract to my employer help in this case?

Have to correct my above post. The member (codybanks) hasn't gotten his visa yet. He had his interview in June, got put into AP, and is currently waiting for the result. Sorry about the misinformation there.

I wish Codybanks all well then. I figured it had to be criminal record stuff. Its only thing i could think of.

MizT, If you are planning to go K-1 route, I would just start it.. sounds like you already were planning it, and border would

find you out. I wouldnt try anything fishy, and would be harsh depending on who you get stopped by. I believe some have visited while in K-1 process.. you just have to prove really strong ties to have to be back home at end of visit.

I was not engaged or thinking about K-1 at the time of my visit. But after my bf visited me, we talked about our future. It was a defining moment of "ok, where do we want to go in

our relationship" and he proposed, then we started the K-1.

I have one more question.. I am traveling to Oklahoma, but I have a layover in LA and DFW Texas.. Do they Usually do all of the questioning when you arrive at your first stop or when you have reached your final destination? LOL this is stressful.. Why does the USA have to be so EXTRA!!!
