Finace's income below poverty line & cannot get a co-sponsor

My girlfriend and i have known eachother for more than 8 years. We live in different countries (she is from the US). We would like to get married and live together in the US. We want to get married in Rome (she's always dreamt of Rome)and then i would apply for either the K3 or CR1. But there is a problem that just came into light, her income is below the poverty line! It has been like that for about a year now, she even filed bankruptcy! Plus she can't get a co-sponsor. I used to think since the CR1 would enable me to work as soon as I arrive in the US, there wouldn't be a need for an affidavit of support, but from what i've read here, that doesn't seem to be the case. So considering this is our situation, what options do we have?

How much below the income is she? If it's not too bad she can take a part time job and use that to help overcome this obstacle. She can also use any assets she may have such as a savings account stocks etc.

the k3 usually gets administratively closed leaving you with a cr1 anyway so you will probably need to go ahead and file the cr1 its less money anyway and you will be able to work as soon as you get here.

other than that... her best options are to either find a new job with higher pay or wait until her income is better.

Let her take a part time job as stated above. It'll help her overcome the low income if her current income is not too below the requirement.

I agree with the suggestions that she should find work. However, even if her income is at or above the threshold, the Consulate has the final say on whether or not you are likely to become a public charge and can require a joint sponsor before they will issue you a visa.

the affadavit of support ties down the USCitizen for 40 work quarters, or 10 years...

Surely she could scrape together the monies to move to your country, then live with you, you pay for all whilst she's there?
