Quick Question:

Was pre-reading through the HCMC appointment package required documents. I expected that the supporting documents for the Affidvait of Support would be my previous tax year 1040, but the consulate states that the "Preferred record of Income" is the "Complete tax return transcript" which I believe is requested via IRS form 4506-T.

Don't have a problem requesting the transcript, but concerned about the timing. I had hoped to have the affidavit complete and mailed to my fiance by March 2012 for a possible April Packet 3 arrival date. If I file my 1040 in late Jan 2012 I doubt they will have it processed and archived for retrieval in that time frame, especially since it falls in the middle of the filing crunch.

How many of our previous HCMC filers used a 1040 as evidence? or used the transcript?? and how long did it take the IRS to provide the transcript?

Appreciate any help.....

I sent my return very close to the April deadline in 2010. I requested a transcript and received it before I even got my refund. As long as it's been at least a few weeks since you sent the return you should have no problem getting a transcript. I've asked for transcripts twice - once for the consulate, and again for AOS. Always got them in less than two weeks.

I submitted copies of the 1040 package with the K1 petition without any problems.

As Jim stated, the transcript turnaround is fairly quick so you may be able to get them. And FedEx gets the docs there in a few days.

Thanks Jim ... Wow, that fast for the iRS? Must be outsourced!

Thanks Anh. Good to know that the 1040 can be used if needed!

The request gets entered into the computer, and the transcripts are printed and mailed from their service center in Kentucky. It's pretty efficient. They can even FAX them to you the same day.
