The guideline doesn't really state what happens now. Shaun got a letter from the London Embassy saying that they received our approved petition from NVC. The letter also says he "should not, under any circumstances" send in the forms until he's received notification from the Embassy.

Is this something he should just be getting in the mail?

Is it something he needs to request them to send?

Or does he need to do something first (i.e., medical exam)before they will send it to him?

It's been 3 weeks since he got the initial letter from the Embassy. What does he or I need to do now?

Our I-129F expires on February 25th....it's fast approaching.

the embassy will just send him a letter instructing him to go to a web address which will list the forms to fill out and what to do next.

the medical can be booked once you have your LND number and the embassy have logged you in to the system.

the I-129F expiration date will be extended by the embassy if needed.

he can start filling out the required forms now so they are ready to send when he gets the letter from the embassy.

have you sent him everything he needs from you for the interview like the I-134 and supporting documents??

has he got what he needs for the medical and interview like police certificate and passport photos??

That IS the letter. He should be following the instructions on this web page (like 3 weeks ago)-Instructions for Immigrant Visa (K) Applicants Applying for a Visa in London

I didn't see the letter but my guess:

The letter gives a link to a webpage to get instructions. It's a horrible page that locks up my computer for a long time every time I go to it....problem on the page for some reason. It is on that webpage page where it says don't send any forms until you get a letter from London. I wonder if the OP's fiance just told her that from reading the webpage and she misunderstood that his letter said it. And if it locked up his computer he probably didn't go to further links which are the actual instructions. I gave the link in my previous post.

Here's the link http://london.usembassy.gov/kprocessing.html if you want to have a look. I normally don't ever post that because it annoys me when it freezes everything. And the real instructions and forms are on http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

There is only one notification from London that they have your file. You can send in forms once London has your case logged in. You can send them if you call DOS and they say the file is logged in at London, even before you get that letter.

The statement is actually in the letter. We read it several times.

Went to the website without issue the day we received the letter. He filled out all of the forms, as the letter states he should, but haven't sent them in yet. We're still waiting for his police records, so it's not like we can send it in right away. But it would be nice to know if we can send it all out the second he gets them back.

Had him send me a copy of the letter, here is what it states:

We are pleased to inform you that we have received an approved petition in support of your fiance or k3/4 visa application. You now need to complete the appropriate forms and collect the required documents. A detailed explanation of the process is found at *the website*

The petition is valid for 4 months from date of action and must be valid to process your case to conclusion. To revalidate the petition please request for fiancé to make a notarized statement of intent to marry within 90 days of your arrival to the US and present it on day of interview.

An appointment for your visa interview will not be scheduled unless we are in receipt of forms DS-230 part1, 2x DS-156, DS-156k, 2x DS 157, checklist DS- 2001 and received the results of your medical examination.

Notice: Do not under any circumstances send any documents to this office until specifically requested to do so. Final determination concerning their acceptability can only be made at the time of your interview. This will also prevent loss of documents. (statement bolded and underlined to show you what I'm talking about, not actually how it looks in the letter)

The Notice implies that he should be getting something else from the Embassy. If that isn't the case, then I am relieved to hear it. If we are missing documents, then we need to be in contact with the Embassy.

i think your misreading the letter... it means "documents" as in police and birth certificate and affidavit of support form and supporting evidence.

follow the instructions on the website... so fill in and return the forms listed in blue above (do not send anything to the embassy except for the forms listed above), get a medical, then once you have the police certificate etc you fill in and return DS-2001. once they receive DS-2001 they will send you an interview date :)

Aha! I get it now. Here's the process:

  1. Mail in the forms DS-230 part1, 2x DS-156, DS-156k, 2x DS 157 as soon as you get that letter you quoted.
  2. Get police certificate in hand, schedule medical, gather all documents like the birth certificate, divorce decree, miltary records, affidavit of support (there's a link to the whole list).
  3. Send in the DS-2001 Readiness for Interview form when you are ready to interview because you've completed #1 and #2.

Your confusion is the word "documents" vs the word "forms". They are saying don't mail us your personal documents (birth certificate, divorce decree, miltary records, affidavit of support and income proofs, etc) because we don't want to be responsible for them. We will look at them in person at the interview.

Remember that when you read the DS-156K form and it lists documents that must accompany it. London does not want documents to "accompany" the DS-156K in the mailbox. The documents will "accompany" the DS-156K in your file once you hand them in at the interview.

So get those 4 DSxxx forms mailed in tomorrow. (#1 above). No need to wait on anything.

Edit: I see Dan was posting at the same time I was typing. LOL.
