Hello, I am new to this but would like some advice, if anyone else has gone through this.

I recently had my Visa interview on Nov 23 where My wife and I thought everything was going smooth. The interviewer simply said to me that he would have to review our case and we would get our results in 5 to 10 business days through DHL. My wife called today and spoke to the call center people and they told her that they will send a request for a update which should go through tomorrow and that they can take 6 to 8 weeks to get back to them. I had a residence alien status but lost it in 2010 due to legal issues 10 years ago which prompted all this. My wife which is a US citizen is how we are applying for the new visa. We have paid everything and have given them everything they have asked for. Has anyone ever heard of this or are we just waiting on a inevitable denial from them? We are very frustrated and worried at the same time if anyone could shed a little light on this for us please help.

Thanks

A variety of folks end up being reviewed for a variety of reasons, your previous "legal issues" may be why they are taking a closer look... just saying.

That is what we are thinking. I was just wondering if anyone else has gone through the same thing. We just worry that the longer it takes does it mean more toward the negative answer. What irritated us more is while still waiting my wife was sick and had to have major surgery, I contacted the consular's office and they supposedly expedited our case and said we would get a decision on the day of interview and he just said sorry you have to wait. Off course to not be to hateful toward him I just bit my lip and accepted his answer.

This is all just so frustrating especially this time of year when the kids are the ones asking where is daddy.

Ok so we are not getting any updates at all from the consulate. Does anyone know if contacting our local congressman would help any with getting a answer from them? We are very frustrated especially since we supposedly had this expedited due to wife being sick. Does anyone know if there is anyone else we can contact other than the juarez consulate office which apparently knows nothing.
