I know it must be difficult to see others get approved, and have to wait.

For us, it helped to get away from checking the USCIS website all the time, and Igorćs list, and getting involved with the threads that just make you think about waiting even more.

The good news is that, although 6 months is not a short time, you are closer than ever to getting your approval.

No easy remedy, be grateful for what will be, and remember many many people have waited much longer than you, and when you are finally together it will all be worth it.

As far as he poster who said dont hold your breathe, well, that is, in my opinion, not really a very supportive remark.

Igonore the negativity and enjoy the support from your fellow travelers on VJ

It's Victor from Russia writing. I completely understand OP... We mailed our petition June 28, USCIS got it June 30, and we got NOA1 July 5 (158 days since NOA1 and 164 since USCIS got our petition). CSC already approved almost half of July, few people from one Russian forum I'm reading with the same or later NOA1 date already approved, one of them already passed interview few days ago and going to meet Christmas with her fiance in US, even somebody from August filers already approved even without asking for expedition, and we're with Amy still waiting and already know, that it will be one more Christmas, one more New Year and one more Amy's Birthday on webcams, being separated by ocean... it's hard. I lost interest to almost everything waiting so long, I don't care about hobbies I was interested earlier, I almost don't communicate with friends anymore, I'm just going to work to earn money, cooking, eating, reading, sleeping and, of course, communicating with Amy every time we can - that's my everyday routine. I'm also not going to celebrate New Year (we rarely celebrating Christmas in Russia) with relatives or friends - just because I don't want and have no mood for doing it, I will spend all time when we will be able to be online together with Amy these holidays, and other time at these holidays I will just read some books or watch some movies in my room by alone.

In November Amy visited me for the 2nd time, it was great, and we celebrated Thanksgiving greatly! :) This visit cheered me up a lot, but now it's over, and I'm back to my boring everyday routine, like in "Groundhog Day".

Amy calls USCIS every day, but it doesn't help - we can see by statistics, that many people from later NOA1 dates approved, but Amy getting one answer every day - "call us 2 weeks later..." It really sucks. :(

So I don't know what to tell to vinaysedey, because I also don't know how to make waiting easier... vinaysedey just remember, that you're not alone in your sadness, may be it will help a little.

Thanks AandD and Victor for the posts. I can understand Adriene H...about unreliable the USCIS is and on giving a timetable. Just been hoping and waiting. Victor, my advice would be to get Amy to contact her local congressman in the states and write to them. I have been in touch with mine since November and they put in an expedite service request on my behalf. Just spoke with the congressman's office today - they told me my case is with an officer at VSC and they are working on it right now. Told me to check back with them on Wednesday to get an update but hopefully I will get an email or something before that!

Victor - try n enjoy the holidays! Don't be so sad and gloomy, it is out of our hands, just try to do whatever you can, as in writing to a congressman or senator and staying positive! I know it's hard when other people who have their NOA1 date after you but already got their NOA2's...it happens, no rhyme or reason.

Chin up friend!

Congratulations! It sounds great that your Congressman got it expedited. At one point did you solicit their help? 5 1/2 month mark?

Anyways...I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Aw. I'm sorry you're feeling that way Victor.

My routine is pretty similar with my fiance. I go to work, talk to him when I can on gmail/skype, eat, watch TV or movies, and sleep. Once in a while I'll go out with friends, but not as often as I used to (though part of that is my own stress on wanting to save money for this process and the future wedding).

But, since you will be the one immigrating, I would like to encourage you to spend the New Year with your family...at least for one day. I know it is hard to spend another Christmas, New Year, and birthday on webcam. Believe me, I know. Last year I went to visit my fiance for the holidays. This year I'm a bit more sad because we won't spend it together. Yes it's one more year you don't spend it with her. But when she gets here, you will have a lifetime of holiday seasons to spend with each other. On the otherhand, it will be your last with your family and friends...for who knows how long. Moving can be extremely difficult, especially to a new country. And you'll miss your family and friends more than you may think or realize. Spend as much time as you can with them now. Even if you're bummed...go visit for maybe one hour or two hours. They'll miss you too once you're gone, so it may mean something to them.

Just a thought. And hang in there....your NOA2 will hopefully come real soon.

Around 5 month mark I wrote the letter to the congressman. I was able to put in a service request on my own but it didn't do anything so I had to do something!! I am hearing other June filers at VSC are getting their NOA2s recently, feeling hopeful that mine is coming any day now!!

I gotta have some good news to give to my fiance before I go visit her for the Holidays :)

How do you find out who your congressman is to contact in your State? I'm going to put in a service request within a week and will contact my congressman as well.

Google 'local congressman' or your city's congressman. It should pull up. If not, go to the US House of Representatives website and look it up there according to your city/zip code.
