Quick Co-Sponsor Question!

3 posts in this topic

Recommended Posts

I found another joint sponsor who makes enough to meet the guidelines, but he filed his return jointly with his wife. His wife makes no income at all. The embassy requested that she submit an I-864a. My question is what does she put in #11 where it asks for income from her 2010 tax return? Does she put $0 or the amount stated on the return (even though it isn't her income)? Thanks VJers!

Does anybody have an answer to this? The other posts on this forum have different scenarios, even though I would think mine is quite common...

I would think she puts the income for her household, as this is what the tax return declares- ie the income of her husband. But I didn't have a joint sponsor, so hopefully someone with more experience will chime in.
