I wanted to see if anyone had a clear answer on this, I have seen the topic posted but it isnt clear to me.

I am self employed, obviously I have deductions such as rent, utilities and some travel with my taxes. But this

brings me below the poverty point. I am a sole proprieter & my deductions are for the home office & car. Do they

take any of this in to account when reviewing the docs or do they just look and see the Ajusted Gross Income is lower

and stop it there. It will be the Bogota Colombia Embassy if anyone has had this experience there or knows what todo

in this situation. I know of the co-sponsor but I am trying to avoid that. I dont have assets either, just my taxes,

letter from the company im contracted by and pay stubs.

Last is about children. I pay child support but do not claim my son on my taxes. I asked my x wife and said I should not

claim him on the I-134 but I am not sure if I do or not. IF I did it would be partialy dependent which leads me to ask, how

do they add that up moneywise for the poverty guidlines. It says add 3820 for additional people so would they add half or

all of it for partialy dependent.

If anyone has any advice please let me know, thanks in advance.

Consulate looks at adjusted gross income on your return. If you are below the 125% poverty guidelines then you need a co-sponsor.

Regarding your child... Your child is partially dependent on you, so your household size is 2 (plus your fiance), so you will need to prove 125% poverty guidelines for a 3 person household (assuming you only have 1 child and your fiance does not have any).

You need to line up a co-sponsor ASAP who meets the income guidelines.

Minor children are included in the household count regardless of custody, etc. No half shares.

A self employed person's income is what is shown on line 22 of the most recent year's tax return. Presently that would be your 2010 form 1040.
