I will tell you the story :

India : June 2010-July 2010

I go to India to meet my girl friend on June 15th 2011. Her parents were out for religious pilgrimage at that time. Therefore, we stayed together for 1 and half months. On July 23rd, my girl friend's student Visa got denied. She reapplied and the embassy asked her to come back on July 28th 2011. She went back and her visa was rejected again. She started to cry and that is something i cannot tolerate. I purposed her immediately and she agreed. The same day i go to US embassy and get No Objection Letter for marriage and the very next day, 29th July, we get married in a court. Yes i paid few bribe to the lawyer to accelerate the process. Only July 30th I come back to the US.

US : August 2010- October 2010

My parents were mad at me for getting married without informing them. It took me two months to convince them. They knew that i was dating this girl for the past 11 years. She is my high school sweetheart. My parents convince her angry parents. Both of our parents now wanted to have a traditional Hindu Ceremony and Marriage. The "Guruji" said that March of 2011 is an auspicious month for us to get married. Everybody agrees and are happy. I start my wife's paperwork.

India : March 2011.

I went to India just for a week in March and get married. I wanted to stay there longer; however, I could not because of my school. I am a Phd student. Lots of people attended both marriage and reception.

India : December 2011

NVC completed the case last month. The visa interview is scheduled for December 8th.

Why am i worried?

I read many threads about CR1 being rejected. I got married in a peculiar circumstance and there is nothing fraudulent about it. However, it would definitely be impossible to convince the person interviewing my wife. I tried to put myself in that interviewer's shoe and evaluate this story. If i were the interviewer, i would not believe in this Bollywood Story.

However, this is not a story from a Hindi movie. This is a true story. I have known this girl since the first day of my 11th grade in New Delhi. I was neither a USC nor a LPR at that time.Today i am USC and i have been USC since the past 4 and half years. We have been loyal to each other and have maintained a perfect long distance relationship.

How can you awesome folks help me?

how should my wife convince the interviewer that our marriage is for real not a fraudulent one.

The documents that she has are : Our high school certificates. It shows that we went to high schools. Our pictures of wedding, reception and other times.

There are few things that may put red flag.

#1 - She was denied for student visa in 2010, and right after that, you guys got married, and then after some time, applied for I-130 process. It can be questionable point for her situation.

#2 - How did you gain USC? If it was gained by any previous marriage, then it really can put the question for this case.

CO may have question related, how you guys can be sure enough that you both would stay together in this marriage relationship? since she was recently denied for student visa, and then her next attempt was I-130. CO may doubt, what if she is trying to change the category of visa to get in USA.

I understand, your story is real, but it is matter of facts, and make your case stronger. Good luck!

==> What should she tell CO. I dated her for 10 years before marrying her.

Hi :) You should be able to gather everything pertaining to your relationship, photo's, e-mails, mail, chats, facebook, skype, all the things that you can put together to prove that your relationship is genuine, plane tickets, boarding passes from your visits and so on. You were in a relationship for so long and I'm sure that you can back that up with lots of evidence. I think that you can overcome that supposed "red flag" if you bring the evidence that shows that you are in a bona fide relationship. I've read other threads on this forum where people were denied tourist visa and then there was no problem at the interview for the IV. Good luck!

I see the following problems in your case and you need to figure out good legit answers to be able to make it through an interview.

  1. She applied for a student visa and was denied TWICE and to the outcome of the visa denial you decided to get married to her almost as a knee-jerk reaction. NOT GOOD. To me if I was the I.O. this is a BIG red flag that your wife was trying to get into the US by any means possible
  2. You got married in a court...any witnesses'?
  3. When did you file for your wife? I understand it took you sometime to convince both of your parents. If you did not file for her within a few months you got some explaining to do.

All I know is that you both better have substantial paper trail of bonafide relationship and have your story together whatever it is. I am not here to doubt your relationship, you need to have your information as accurate as possible and hope that your I.O. believes your story/relationship.

You better expect your wife to be grilled at the interview by the I.O.

Seriously...good luck on this one!

Thanks @ elicearea and @ Dave and Kinnari,

Elicearea : Will be able to gather almost everything that u said; i don't know about Boarding pass though.

Dave and Kinnari :

"She applied for a student visa and was denied TWICE and to the outcome of the visa denial you decided to get married to her almost as a knee-jerk reaction. NOT GOOD. To me if I was the I.O. this is a BIG red flag that your wife was trying to get into the US by any means possible"==> My main concern. I don't know how to answer. The real answer is that we both immensely love each other.

"You got married in a court...any witnesses'?" ==> Yes, one of my major witness is my sibling,my younger brother. He also is a USC.

"When did you file for your wife?==> USCIS received the I-130 on NOV 30 2010. I receive NVC first note on APR 12,2011..

"All I know is that you both better have substantial paper trail of bonafide relationship and have your story together whatever it is. I am not here to doubt your relationship, you need to have your information as accurate as possible and hope that your I.O. believes your story/relationship."==> What other information do i need?

Is it possible to get married in a day in Delhi court? which court and how. Please explain because there are many folks who would like to know that.

AND.. Legally it take minimum one month notice to have a civil ceremony in court. Embassy will ask this question at first step!

Good Luck

I don't know about any court. Went in front of registar and signed. One of my childhood friend's cousin happened to be a lawyer. I don't know what kind of magic he did. I got certificate the same day. They say that it usually takes at least 30 days. however, i was lucky.

Now,can this miracle be an issue as well??

If you are registered under Special Marriage Act, Yes it can be an issue in embassy, because legally it takes min.30 days period notice to get married.

Under HIndu Marriage Act, you can get registered in one day but in this case you should marry in like" Arya Samaj Temple" and then can get registered in court.

I don't know about your case.
