POE Black Friday?

Okay, looks like I'm finally getting my visa! Honey is coming up to load the truck up on Wed night, Thurs morning. We'll be looking at crossing on Friday if all goes well with picking up the visa. Is that just insane? Should we try for Thurs night instead because of all the cross border shoppers? Or would Thursday night be even worse?

Thats the craziest idea ive ever heard... those boarders will be a 3 and 4 hour wait by dinner time thursday because alot of the retailers are opening earlier this year...you may not make a CBP agent very happy for making this decision!! lol Good Luck with POE

I remember visiting my wife's family in Buffalo for Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. I flew into Hamilton on the Wednesday, and crossed the border (Rainbow Bridge, I think) around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. It was completely quiet, with only a few vehicles in front of us. So if you can get everything packed and loaded on Wednesday, it might be your best bet to get across the border as soon as possible, even if it's in the middle of the night, then grab a hotel if need be. The borders DO get pretty insane for the entire weekend.

I doubt it will be too bad - hit the border at 8 or 9 Friday morning and all the crazy Black Friday people have already crossed...You're going to secondary anyway to be processed, what's a few minutes extra wait? We've gone on US Thanksgiving, Christmas eve and everything in between - as long as we hit it early there's hardly any traffic at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo

I was thinking the same thing as Udella&Wiz. My former Sister-in-law is one of the insane black Friday shoppers and she always wanted to be in the US for store openings at 0400 hrs on the Friday. I would think that later on during the Friday you would be okay.

Hmmm... I had convinced honey to wait till Saturday after showing him this thread, guess we'll play it by ear then! Mind you, mom bought a turkey and planned to make a thanksgiving meal here for him, albeit on the Friday, so he might just want to hang around anyway!

I'd be more worried about Americans travelling back to the US from Canada on the Friday morning. Not sure if there would be that many, but I can't imagine the borders are going to be that quiet this weekend. They say the days around thanksgivings are the busiest travel days of the year (says the girl travelling this weekend!)

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Biometrics - 9/14/11
