I think you should carry only your VALID, CURRENT passport. An expired or voided passport serves no purpose. My wife turned in her old passport and obtained a new one in her legal married name. I highly recommend using your current, valid, new passport...and forget about the old one.

Good Luck,

Magnus

Agree with one comment.

Unless you are showing travel together or something like that (using documentation in the old passport as proof or relationship by matching travel entry/exit etc) there is no need to have or carry an old passport.

i don't get it.

The old passport will only show travel, use the new one.

Use the passport that will reflect the marriage certificate. Your name AFTER marriage.

During the interview carry copies of the old passport just in case they inquire about them. I highly doubt this will happen though.

Hi Dave and Kinnari,

Thank you for spending ur time to reply our querries.

I also have a similar situation.

I will put like this

My name contain three parts

Say A B C

in my old passport it was like written like

Surname : B C

Given Name : A

but actually it needs to be written like given below. So i changed like this in the new passport.Only last name should go in surname.

Surname : C

Given Name : A B

Will this change be raised in Interview. will it cause any problem.

Kindly reply. i am really worried abt this. did anyone come across something like this

I would obtain both. I really depends on your region.

In Gujarat I know to obtain a Passport Cleareance Certificate from A'bad RPO office you have to show an original Local Police Clearance Certificate for them to issue the Passport Clearance Certificate. So we obtained both.

NVC only asked for the Passport Clearance Cert.

I believe you will only need to obtain the one from the city that you are currently residing in. If you went overseas for school or work purposes you will need to obtain those certificates from the respecting country.

You want to send all original copies to NVC. Make sure you make at least 2 attested/true copies so that you have it for your records and just in case they ask you to reproduce it at the interview.

The change is fine. My wife's passport reflects the latter passport you have just obtained and we had no issues.

You should have no worries for the interview.

I'm sorry I might have confused with the choice of words I used.

Yes, my wife's passport is the same as the one you changed it to.

There was no issues with our interview or immigration processing.

The most important thing is to make sure the name reflects what is printed on the Marriage Certificate and what it should be according to Indian custom after marriage.

It should be [Her First Name] [spouses First Name as her middle name] [Last Name]

What you have done is correct. :)

It's actually good you have done this first as some people have gone through just fine without changing it but when it came down to changing it later on they had a rough time getting it changed.

They might. There is no guarantee.

Take the passport with you to the interview and make a copy of it as well.

If they ask you to produce it show it, if they ask your about the gulf stamps tell them about it.

You want to prepare for ALL angles of this process, good or bad. It is the only way you can truly be prepared for it.

I prepared twice as hard for the bad then the good. Any scenario you could think of I had it covered or I had the means to solve it quickly.

This was the only way it allowed me to sleep at night and truly told both of us that we are prepared for anything they could throw at us.

My wife went in with almost 10kg of relationship evidence to the interview. They did not ask for any of it...
