First let me say thank you to VJ. You guys helped me so much through this process. There were so many days that I thought it would never work out but you guys always had answers and gave me hope.

My appointment was yesterday at 11:00. My husband and I arrived at about 10:20 and went through security then gave the interview notice to the receptionist (surprisingly she did not ask any of us for our ID's). We sat in the waiting area and waited for my name to be called. The couple right before us were separated and that made me nervous. At exactly 11.00 a young Chinese lady called my name. She told us good morning, smiled and took us to her office. She seemed like a very nice person. She introduced herself and had us swear to tell the truth.

She started with me and asked me my date of birth, social sec number, my husband's date of birth, my address and went over all the yes and no questions on the I-485 form. She asked for my birth certificate, I-94 and my current passport which was lost but she was ok with it. I gave her my old passport with my visa in it. she also wanted my marriage and divorce certificates. She then asked my husband for his birth certificate and his social, where he worked and how much his salary was.

Next she asked us how we met and I told her the very unique way in which we met, she laughed. Then she asked us when we started dating, when I met his family, when we moved in together and when we decided to get married. She seemed to like our stories. She asked me how my stepson and I got along and if I liked fishing with my husband since that was his favorite hobby. I said no and she laughed.

She then asked for evidence and I gave her lots of pictures of before and after the marriage and our wedding photos. She kept about 5 pictures. I also gave her 2 bank statements, letters and cards from others and to each other, a letter from my mother in law stating that we live with her and gift receipts. We did not have a lease, credit cards, insurance ,etc so I was worried but obviously it was okay. It was clear that she just could see that we were a real couple.

At the end she told us that she would review our case further and make a decision by the end of the day. She told us we would receive an approval letter in about a week and told us about removal of conditions 90 days before our 2 years were up, not to vote or do jury duty, etc and then asked me if I had any questions. I just asked if I was approved or not. She said yes but I was not convinced since she said she would further review the case and she did not take my EAD. We thanked her and she led us out........even though a little confused I was soooooooooo happy!!! When I got home I checked my status and nothing......then at 6pm my status was changed to CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED!! Finally I am a resident :-)

Good luck to everyone. Don't worry too much. Just tell the truth. Thanks again.

You don't understand how great you just made me feel. My interview is April 30th at the west palm office. Even though I met my husband at 14 and started dating at 16yrs old, Im still nervous. You never know what can happen. I am just praying that everything is great!!! Thanks and congrats!!
