We,ve been waiting for the time to come when we could share OUR story..and it finally has arrived!! First let me say other than the security at the front door the rest of the people we encontered at the embassy were very pleasant and helpful. We were fortunate my wife to be had family in montreal so we saved money on a hotel and didn't have to print maps and stumble our way to the embassy. We arrived at 650 for our 8am appt and not a soul was there. In my brillance I suggessted we take a cab to the closet Tim hortons for coffee, and to drop our backpak at the train station since it had our cellphones etc and was too big to be allowed in the embassy. thanks VJ for the tip. . When we returned 4 people had gotten in line! From there the line quickly grew. Good thing we were still somewhat "first in line", one of the people in front of us was turned away by security and told go back to her hotel room because she had brought her laptop cellphone and 2 bags of paperwork. Once again Thanks VJ for the tip. Once thru security we proceeded to the downstairs elevator and sat second next to a lovely couple whom also were VJ'ers and had already occupied the first seat next to the elavator. Once the elevator was opened we were overrun and pushed to the middle of the pack. We got in line 3rd for the 1st window. Given our number and waited about 10 mins til we were called to the back for what I thought was the interview but was only for fingerprints and to give the medical report. As with many others they did not want or care for the xrays. Even though we had them. Then we were asked to pay. While I was paying they called us again a second time. So we went back and all they wanted was the receipt. Then we waited about 20 mins and finally the interview. It was short and sweet. How did we meet. (Thru a friend) How long together(14 years). Do we have any kids(yes 3). Either of you previously married? (No and no). Why are getting a visa now and never before? (Because its been long overdue and quite honestly customs was tired of seeing us cross the border so much...LoL). Then before I could say or think she said the magic words...your visa is approved....we both sat there in shock. The lady asked...did you hear me?....we said yes and told her we just thought there would be more questions so she caught us off gaurd...everyone laughed and she informed us we should receive the visa sometime next week...from the time the embassy doors opened at 730 to "your visa is approved" was exactly 95 mins. At 9:25 we were walking out the door. And even though we weren't first in line. We were the first ones to leave approved. Othere were still having their interviews or waiting to be called. Now that's karma. For all you people who cut in front of me on the elevator. LoL. All in all it was very easy. Very pleasant and all because we came well prepared thanks to VJ. We wouldve been lost without it! We still had 2 hrs before our train departed so we wandered around downtown. Had a smoke. Got some breakfast. And now I am writing this from the train omw home! Thanks to everyone on here! Good luck to you all!

Thank you to everyone for all the well wishes! And we wouldn't have made it (as smoothly) without all of the help and info we received on here! My question now is how long before the visa arrives...the lady at the embassy said we should have it in a week...is this realistic or should we not hold our breath on that one? Our son has an all star football game next weekend....Mel would like nothing more than to be there...if the visa arrives as stated she will be...thoughts anyone?
