Hello,

I am a US citizen who recently filed I-130 petition for my wife. On 10/4/11 I mailed I-130, 5 days later I received my NOA1 with a priority date of 10/5/11. It has been almost a month and I just received another I-797 with NOTICE TYPE- Approval Notice Section: husband or wife of U.S. Citizen, 201(b) INA. The letter states,

The above petition has been approved. We have sent the original visa petition to the NVC. NVC processes all approved immigrant visa petitions the need consular action. It also determines which consular post is the appropriate consulate to complete visa processing. NVC will then forward the approved petition to that consulate.

The NVC will contact the person for whom you are petitioning(beneficiary) concerning further immigrant visa processing steps.

You should allow a minimum of 30 days for DOS processing before contacting the NVC.

The letter goes on, on how to contact the NVC via email. The next 2 paragraph just states although its approved it doesn't grant any immigration status and how they have a right to verify.

My question is, What is this letter? NOA2?

I checked with the USCIS website and it went from Acceptance to Initial Review then straight to Post Decision Activity. It doesn't make sense. Why would it say in the letter they are sending it to NVC within a month. Granted if this is true I am very happy that it would go this fast. Can someone please clarify?

Very Confused,

J

looks like you got a fast approval. try calling the NVC and see if they have a MNL case number for you.

Wow! COngrats you got your NOA2 in one month! most people wait 5--8 months. Your case is moving very fast. Your case is being forwarded to National Visa Center for review (normally 3-5 weeks). Then once it is approved by the NVC, the NVC will forward it to the embassy.
