Hello All! Time to begin preparing by taking care of business. I have a few questions regarding the Medical Exam & Police certificate and would greatly appreciate any advice or insight.

MEDICAL EXAM ?’s

1) The Children’s Practice vs. KAMORASS Specialist Clinics … Any opinions if one was better/easier than the other? Can he make an appointment? Is there a certain time he should arrive at the clinic where he can get in and out quicker? What is the cost for the exam at the clinic?

2) I see there is a form for a vaccination/immunizations record… what if he does not have an immunization record as he has never been vaccinated? Will this be a problem?

3) Do they give a “Skin” TB test or is that what the chest X-ray is for ?? What else can he expect during the exam?

POLICE CERTIFICATE ?’s

1) I have read the application packet as well as the medical exam forms and see that it states it can about 2 weeks to get the police certificate back and maybe 2-3 days for the medical exam to be complete. Well just wondering if that is in fact really true? Asking so I will know what needs to be done first if it will take the longest.

2) I want to verify that these instructions are in fact correct procedure you follow when getting certificate? … 1. Submit your passport in person to the Nigerian Police Service commission at Alagbon Close, Ikoyi Lagos. 2. Pay the required fee and take the receipt to the Office of Inspector General at Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos. 3. Collect your Nigerian Police Clearance Certificate and take it to your visa interview. The certificate should be ready in approximately two weeks, but please allow time for unforeseen delays.

Will they let him know when and where he needs to pick up his certificate?

3) Is the cost of the police certificate $50? Do they issue a receipt to him since he will surrender his passport for the police certificate? Is there an application he needs to complete for the police certificate?

4) If he has lived elsewhere for more than 12 months,, does he need a police certificate/clearance from there as well?

Sorry… I know it’s a lot, thanks in advance for any guidance you may be able to give :)

They will provide vaccination record, do x-ray, maybe or not TB. You will get another TB check USA by CS, and they will read x-ray. Police record check where lived, by the way this process is not for the faint of heart or lack of money.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

(Let him use childrens practice he will be done within 3days).Cost is 21000 naira

2) I see there is a form for a vaccination/immunizations record… what if he does not have an immunization record as he has never been vaccinated? Will this be a problem? (Not a problem. He will be given all the vaccinations recommended)

3) Do they give a “Skin” TB test or is that what the chest X-ray is for ?? What else can he expect during the exam? (x-ray)

(He can get the certificate within one business day.He should just get there early with all the requirements). its a very simple process and no receipts are given.cost 5000naira)

Will they let him know when and where he needs to pick up his certificate?(just follow my advice above and ignore the protocols listed on the K1 preparatory package)

(Everywhere he has lived since turning 16 for more than a year apart from the US)

Sorry… I know it’s a lot, thanks in advance for any guidance you may be able to give :)

I personally think they are the same most people go to Kamorass. He can not make an appt he should arrive as soon as they open which I think is 8am I think the cost has increased but I cant remember I want to take a wild guess and say 21,000N I think someone can come along and correct me on that....

2) I see there is a form for a vaccination/immunizations record… what if he does not have an immunization record as he has never been vaccinated? Will this be a problem? If he has never been vaccinated no problem they will administer all he needs there but if he has had some vaccines he should take proof with him.

3) Do they give a “Skin” TB test or is that what the chest X-ray is for ?? What else can he expect during the exam? Yes they will give TB test there as well as the xray. He can expect it to be painless and to the point on his exam day and will be asked to come back the following day to finish up the exam nothing major just an exam will take place once he is finished on day 2 they will give him the sealed brown envelope that he should take with him to the interview.

They say the police check takes 2weeks but most people get them the same day if he knows what he is doing he will get it the same day. There is no rush on either of the two just dont wait to the last minute to do them.

Yes he should get it the same day so no worries about that

3) Is the cost of the police certificate $50? Do they issue a receipt to him since he will surrender his passport for the police certificate? Is there an application he needs to complete for the police certificate? LOL this na Naija you cant put price on things there where did you see $50.00 it depends on who he meets there and if he knows what he is doing as to how much he will pay for the police certificate. Some people have paid as little as 1,500N and upwards.

4) If he has lived elsewhere for more than 12 months,, does he need a police certificate/clearance from there as well? He needs a police certificate for every place he has lived more than 6months after the age 16.

Sorry… I know it’s a lot, thanks in advance for any guidance you may be able to give :)

I called the Clinic (Kamorass) Yesterday and was told there will be an initial deposit of 12k.He will need to come with a copy of his international Passport,2 passport Photograph, his interview Letter

Regarding the Police Certificate,The Normal Charge is N3500 and can still obtain it same day. There is no receipt issued for it (he needs his international passport,Passport Photograph). For fast clearance on how to obtain it,Just give the officer N5000 and within an hour you are done.

If he has no vacination history he will need several visits to the clinic to complete the series there at 2 week intervals if I remember. Allow time to complete the series. K1's and K3's can complete before AOS in the US but then they cost more.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

So are you saying that we have the option of him NOT getting the vaccinations before he comes to the US and he can just get them when he arrives in the US?

And if so is there an additional paper that needs to be filed to get approval for him to wait until he gets to the US to get them?

I am just trying to know what to tell him so he is prepared IF they tell him he needs immunizations while completing his medicals. You know is so hard for me when I am such a planner and preparer and I can not be there to make sure things are taken care of smooth and efficiently... lol!

Thanks for your guidance :D
