What information will immigration need on my earnings when my fiance goes for his interview? We met in Korea and I just returned July 1st and started working in August. I was working in Korea but I don't have tax records to prove that. I read on another thread that they will want to see W2 forms for 2 years as proof of income. I will probably have around a year or less of income in the US. Will this be a problem? The reason I came home was to start working and establish a residence so we will be able to be together again when he joins me. The more I read about the process, the more nervous I get.

No, they want to see that your present income is sufficient above the new household size minimum levels.

They also want either copies if your entire tax return OR the tax transcripts available for free from the IRS. The latter is suggested and is best.

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

When you worked in Korea, your income was not taxable here in the USA? Are you sure of this? Some job classifications are taxable here in the USA if you are a citizen, so you need to make sure you did not need to file prior years taxes.

Most Consulates require a minimum of 1 year tax return with W-2 or tax transcript. Some Embassys require 2 years and still others want to see 3 years of inccome. These requirements vary from Embassy to Embassy and you need to understand that the Consulate has the ability and authority to deny your visa on his say-so without much chance of appeal.

I truly believe (as I posted to your other quieries) that your best course of action is to find a suitable co-sponsor (if your Embassy will accept one). Based upon your other posts, your income is not sufficient and you don't have long term stable income ot show at the time of the interview.

You should be nervous at this stage, because if you don't prepare financially for the interview it won't go well.

I'm not trying to be harsh or offend, but rather to tell you ahead of time - while you still have the chance to correct your deficient income or obtain a co-sponsor.
