well I just got my NOA1 in the mail! my evidence was received on wednesday and I got my NOA1 today this is the fast NOA1 I have ever received, I'm just waiting for my Bio appt. letter I'm crossing my fingers they give me an fast date then I'll go and make the info pass appointment! my hubby has decided to come with me so we have to work out his passport and time off work ect. I hope it all alines... thanks for the advice!

I would try making an infopass BEFORE you get the biometrics letter. Show them the evidence of your grandfather passing, that you would like to leave the US asap, ask to do biometrics there and then (the INFOPASS place in my local office was in the same place as the biometrics), and for an I-551 stamp.

Good luck and my condolences to you. Not to best circumstances to be heading home but I hope you enjoy spending time with family and friends regardless (eat some allen's red frogs and strawberry freddo's for me :D)

Did you remove the conditions on your green card or were you issued a green card without conditions?

Also, as Vanessa said, you won't have trouble travelling with the green card in your other name. The green card is, by itself, a travel document valid for entry to the US. You *technically* don't need a passport to enter the US if you have the green card, but ICAO rules say you at least have to carry *a* passport with you if travelling by air.

I removed the conditions a few years back I think in 07. I shouldn't have said anything to my hubby and just gone over with my original green card...

Hindsight is 20/20. You're doing it now. Are you planning on applying for USC? If not then it's not a total waste of money, nothing wrong with your ID having all the same name...
