I am Canadian and my fiance is American (from Michigan). We both live and work in Abu Dhabi, UAE and have been here for 3 years.

Our plans are to marry in December when we are visiting in his family in Michigan for the Christmas Break (it's easier here with the marriage certificate). We then want to have a small church wedding in Michigan in July 2012 with friends and family.

In a few years we would start the visa process for me to enter the US as a resident. We are planning on living and working abroad until at least July 2015.

Our questions are as follows:

1. We are worried I will not be let back into the US once we are married (if we marry in December, will I be let in when I visit for the summer holiday in 2012?). In the past I have brought my overseas contract of employment and my departure flight to show Customs to prove I am only staying a few weeks. But will this be enough if we get married?

2. Will the visa process be different or more difficult if we get married and wait a year or two before starting the visa process?

3. Are there different processes for Canadian citizens (just asking because our countries have a different relationship)?

1. You will likely still be let in, but do bring ties to where you currently live.

2. No. If anything, it will be easier to prove a bonafide relationship because you have lived together and probably will have joint finances.

3. No.

Ps: keep in mind DCF is not available for all countries, only those with USCIS offices listed here: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=1ac900c262197210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=1ac900c262197210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD
