Just heard from my husband. He was told to go and get a marriage certificate from his township. I'm not sure I understand but I guess the one he got originally was from the notary who married us and was certified by the township. So after he brings it to the Embassy he'll get his visa within 2 days. The only problem is that his township doesn't move too fast with things like this. Hoping he can get it and get it back to the Embassy today. I'll let you all know what happens! :)

Hi All,

I am writing as much details as I can about my wife's CR1 visa experience today in Chennai, india. Even though her interview is scheduled at 1PM today they allowed her inside the consulate at 12PM. Security guards checked her interview letter and the folders that she was carrying. Please do not carry any electronic items such as cell phones, flash drives e.t.c but you are allowed to carry PEN,PENCIL and you can also wear watch. They also stamped on every folder as part of security regulations. Once she went inside, she waited for almost 45 minutes. One male Indian officer asked my wife's medical report. He also asked my Year 2010 W2, however my wife doesn't have that and she said she only has Year 2010 tax returns and tax transcript and he accepted it. After this they asked my wife to be seated and wait for the next call.

After 1 hour, she was called again and consular officer took finger prints of her and have her sign DS 230 PART II. At the same time they returned my wife's civil documents such as ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE and ORIGINAL MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE. After this they asked my wife to be seated again. After an hour my wife called by Consular Officer for final interview. Below are the questions they asked her.

1. How did you meet your husband

2. What is your wedding date

3. After wedding how many days your husband stayed with you?

4. Did he visit you after he went back to US?

5. Have you been to any other countries before?

That's all and then the final magical words from CO, "Congrats! Your visa is approved and we will mail your passport within 7 business days. My wife carried tons of evidences such as wedding pictures, call history e.t.c but they did not ask anything but I advise everyone to carry tons of evidence just in case because you never know.

Congrats Ganesh and thank you for sharing your experience. I reached Chennai today morning and wife was waiting for me at the airport (she reached one day before and stayed with a friend). It was so nice to meet her after 4 months. We checked into Sea Shell Residency - I have copies of W-2s also just in case (submitted Tax Transcripts with AOS). Relaxed and then walked to Consulate and then to VFS just like that. Very glad to hear your experience and are looking forward to tomorrow's interview. I will go in, if they allow me else I can walk back to the hotel and get my cell phone.

Is your wife going to collect the Visa tomorrow at VFS or chose to collect it at VFS, Hyderabad?

The following have their interviews tomorrow. My wife is one of these. Please pray for the Lord's grace upon all of us.

Navyk,

I wish you all the best for your wife's interview tomorrow and I am praying to hear good news. I am 100% sure that she will get it. Make sure to get in as early as 12PM because for my wife they allowed her inside at 12PM even though her original appointment time is at 1PM and the whole process can take up to 3hours.

My wife already left this evening to Hyderabad and she will collect Passport from HYDERABAD VFS office by the end of the week. A quick question for you. Is she also gets sealed envelope along with Passport at VFS?
